Detention, The Danger Shop, 10/07/06

Upon entering the danger shop, students were greeted with an ordinary looking room, empty except for an area in one corner that was set up with a table of breakfasty-type foods and some chairs. Once all of the students were on hand, however, the room's appearance changed, until it resembled the countryside of central Europe. Germany perhaps, or Austria.

Aziraphale smiled and nodded at each student, checking off their names from his list, and waited until everyone was assembled before beginning.

"Welcome to detention. Since I've been given to understand that this is meant to be a learning experience as much as it is a punishment, I've arranged a couple of scenarios for you today. This morning, you'll each face an...enemy, of a sort, in a different setting. How you deal with the encounter, how you ultimately defeat your enemy, is entirely up to you. I expect you each to draw upon the strengths and knowledge you possess.

After lunch, you'll be working together to overcome one additional challenge. Are there any questions?"

Bel helped himself to food and sat down.

At some point, Wilson carried a cup of tea he was sipping on and worked his way over to Bel.

"Hey."

"Hey," Bel said, poking at his sandwich.

Folding himself down to sit beside the younger man, Wilson took a sip of his tea and eyed the sandwich.

"Might want to eat that instead of playing with...especially given the theme of today's detention." Who knew if the tomato within the bread would attack?

"Not very hungry," Bel said, pushing his plate away. "So, visiting the condemned prisoners?"

"Well since Dean Tick would probably frown on the conjugal visit I had planned for Aziraphale..." Wilson said with an impish grin.

"So?? I didn't get a chance to see last night, what did you pull off for Phoebe for your anniversary?"

"Yeah, it was great," Bel said, grinning now. "I borrowed Old Man from Pippi and Willow turned a pumpkin into a carriage for me, and Isabel made me glass slippers for Phoebe. And we had a really great dinner...thanks to you."

Wilson listened intently and his eyebrows went up at the news of the glass slippers.

"How did Isabel manage... okay, never mind that is just wonderful, Bel! I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to see you guys with all that pulled together. Did you get pictures at least? So I can do the annoying fraternal thing and bug Phoebe for copies?"

As he spoke, it's possible the plate found it's way back towards Bel but most of Wilson's attention was on hearing about the fairy tale Bel had managed to weave for Phoebe.

Bel nodded. "Yeah, we had some pictures taken. ~~And hopefully they'll be in color when they're developed.~~" He picked at the crust of his sandwich. "How about you, you have a good night?"

Chuckling, Wilson leaned back on his good hand.

"Well, let's see. Aziraphale gave me these gorgeous mother of pearl shirt studs with matching cuff links, then I treated him to gourmet sushi and saki and then we spent six or so hours chaperoning you lot and dancing with other folks and each other and then we went to the Arms." No need to go further than that, right? The blush should suffice.

"So we were properly romantic and sappy I think."

Bel grinned a little. "Yeah, ours was pretty sappy, too. Except for the fight. Not with Phoebe, I mean. I got into a fight."

"Fight?" Wilson asked, brows knitting together with concern. "What happened, Bel?"

Bel shrugged. "Echolls pissed me off."

Inwardly, Wilson frowned. While he knew Echolls had a knack for lack of a better word, this combined with Joxer and then getting upset at Phale and obviously saying something that was out of line in reference to Wilson himself.

Outwardly he gave a small nod and smiled ruefully at Bel. "If I remember correctly, this is not something new?"

Though, when combined with everything else, was still a worrying factor of it's own.

"Oh yeah," Bel said. "He's had it coming for awhile. Just wish I'd been able to finish it before we got interrupted."

Wilson watched Bel out of the corner of his eye, then flicked a glance towards Phale, then looked back to Bel.

"Well maybe best not to let Echolls ruin what sounds like an otherwise perfect anniversary memory eh?"

"I don't know," Bel said, smirking. "Beating the crap out of him put me in a good mood."

Having the sinking suspicion that this line of discussion was going to lead them both to an uncomfortable spot, Wilson once again tried a small change of tact.

"So, what are you and Phoebe going to do today? Once you get out of detention."

Bel shrugged. "Don't know," he said. "She wants to spend some time with her sister and visit friends, I guess."

"Well, that's understandable." Wilson said with a nod. "It's that kind of weekend after all. Do you have some folks you're going to try to catch up with?"

Another shrug. "No, not really," he said. "Well, I'll see Piper and Linds with Phoebe, and I picked Veronica up, so I already talked to her."

Yes, there was a notable omission there.

Yeah, that was a fairly substantial pink elephant that just walked into the room and sat down in the middle of the conversation and for a moment, Wilson debated whether or not he should encourage Bel to at least say hello.

Particularly with the hair trigger temper Bel seemed to have lately.

"Let's see I've seen...err...well, only Angel actually." Not that he blamed some of the other alumnis from not really looking him up, after all most them only saw him during times they'd rather forget anyway.

"I asked him to bring Sean by the clinic tonight, while I'm on shift so I could see how much he's grown." Perhaps there was a subtle thread of invitation there, if Bel maybe wanted a chance to show up, in a neutral territory, neutral situation sorta...thing?

Bel scowled a little, then his face took on a more disinterested look. "You're back working at the clinic?" he said, seizing on only that fact.

Hmm, that non-suggestion had gone down faster than a paper airplane doused in lighter fluid with a match for cargo.

"Ah...yeah." Wilson scrambled for a moment, wondering just what had happened in the spring semester between Bel and Angel. "Seems I just don't know what to do with myself if I'm not patching you guys up."

"I haven't been shot in awhile, but I'll try to remember to do it on your shift," Bel said, chuckling a little.
