Flight Club, Monday, 4 pm in the flight shed

Aeryn gets to the flight shed early, watching everyone arrive. When it looks like everyone's there, she goes straight into her talk. Someone might someday teach her the value of 'hello.'

"Today we're going to work on something from Earth," she says. "It's called a F/A-18E Super Hornet, and while it doesn't go into space, it is actually in use today. Personally I like space flying better, but this isn't bad. The controls are a little different than last week, but I'll be there to help if you need it." She's very good at not facepalming at those who probably will.

[With OCD in one second... yay!]

Trying to keep breathing, and keep her eyes open, Evie manages to taxi down the run way faster, lift the wings, pull back on the stick, and just *barely* clear the trees at the end of the airfield.

Then she giggles. "Flying! Again!"

The Boeing kept flying, with an occasional-- veer. To the left. Evie concentrated harder, and that meant she lost altitude. She corrected for altitude, and, well. "Oh god oh god oh what was that--" The jet was starting to spin. Around, and around, and around.

"Oh oh oh OH yes... okay." The stabilizers worked. "YAY!" Annnd then she was terrified. "Oh. Dear."

Gulping and hyperventilating, Evie managed to keep it flying for while, slowly calming down. "Um. Do I land it now? Just... turn it around and put it down?"

It was a very wide turn. It's possible they ended up in the next county. Then Evie slowly, slowly, began to descend. Biting her lip, she hesitantly said, "Aeryn?"

"I don't think I'll be able to land this with as much runway as I have down there. Can we make it longer? Maybe? Somehow?"

Evie swallows hard, because she doesn't *dare* tell Aeryn no again, and follows her directions to the letter.

The jet only bounces once, then coasts to a sloooooooow stop. Evie leans her head on the steering column and waits for her heart to stop pounding. "Oh, lord. Ohh." She did it. She did it!

"YAY!"

And she didn't even hurt herself this time!

After a couple minutes of breathing, Evie attempted to unbuckle her seatbelt. Carefully. "Well. That wasn't too bad, was it?" She couldn't get it to unbuckle. "Hmm." A bit more tugging. "Right. I'll just... take a breather here, then."
