Flight Club, Monday, 4 pm in the flight shed

Aeryn gets to the flight shed early, watching everyone arrive. When it looks like everyone's there, she goes straight into her talk. Someone might someday teach her the value of 'hello.'

"Today we're going to work on something from Earth," she says. "It's called a F/A-18E Super Hornet, and while it doesn't go into space, it is actually in use today. Personally I like space flying better, but this isn't bad. The controls are a little different than last week, but I'll be there to help if you need it." She's very good at not facepalming at those who probably will.

[With OCD in one second... yay!]

"What'd I miss last week?"

Billy had at least seen the interior of one of these things. But he'd never actually flown one. He studied the gauges, switches and such figuring out some of what they did. Enough that he wouldn't accidentily eject anyway.

Luke hopped into the simulator and gave the switches and appraising look. "No gravity adjustments to make," he said under his breath. "It'll be like Beggar's Canyon."

He grinned over at Aeryn. "I can make it go, right?"

Luke's grin got larger. "I think I can handle it," he said, flipping the fake engines to life and taking off. "It needs a runway!" he said, laughing.

"Me, too," Luke admitted as he made the simulator climb to the correct altitude. "This isn't nearly as intuitive," he commented. "You have to pull a lot harder."

The only time Naomi had actually seen one of them was in a museum as they were no longer in use during her time, she got into a simulator and examined the controls but once again nothing was actually familiar to her.

Evie gets in and looks around avidly, eyes wide. "So, I flip these switches, and, um, push the pedals, and steer like last time, right?"

So far, she hasn't hurt herself. Yet.

Evie follows... most of this. Bouncing in the seat, she carefully adjusts her helmet. "Okay. So, this can't do up, we need to 'taxi down the runway.'" She took a gulping breath. "Right. Here we go!"

She started the flight sequence, hit the buttons and... stayed in one place as the engines roared.

ROOOOOOAAAARRRRRRR

"Why isn't it moving?" Evie shouted.
