After watching the crowd gather and encouraging them to settle down long enough to listen to people talk, The Tick began to speak.

"Welcome, students and faculty, to our first assembly of the year! We'll be doing these to help impart something to our students. Give them advice, entertainment, and something worthwhile to do on a Friday afternoon!"

"Today you'll be getting advice from several speakers. They are motivational speakers, people who speak and give advice to help you better yourself! They are the tops in their individual fields, respective Everests, and this assemply is your sherpa, helping you scale that mountain to a better you!"

"Some of today's speakers are professional motivational speakers! Some are fellow students with some special advice! And one is a local business owner just looking to help out!"

"I think it's about time to let them do their jobs now. Please give the speakers your undivided attention and have some fun!"

[OOC: Each speaker will have their own thread, plus there will be a Q&A thread at the end of the post for them to ping into. Please wait to ask the speakers questions until the speakers have pinged in.

"Relationships are dumb," Jaye decides.

"Yes!" Sam agreed. "Except...I don't want to give mine up. Woe."

"Which is why they suck! Because you're all 'ooh, I like this' and then the bad and/or uncomfortable stuff starts up and you're still all with it because you're all lame and hi I'm projecting now. But woe, yes."

Sam chuckled. "Yeah. And then the next thing you know, you're breaking up with someone's answering machine because you haven't seen them in a month. Er."

"Almost had to do it by box-outside-the-door," Jaye shares. "And this last breakup only happened because I found out important information from a third party in the middle of the welcoming party."

"I could still shoot him," Sam offered.

"Shooting's bad when you're trying to make nice, though. There are usually hard feelings afterwards. Thanks, though," she says. "So you know about that whole thing?"

"Was I not supposed to?" She really needed to start keeping track. "Jack told me the basics. And the offer's open. There's tech here that won't leave a mark."

"Nah, it's okay," she says. "I just didn't know if you knew. And ooh, I will remember this if I have to take you up on that."

"Yeah, I know. And if Jack was a different kind of person, Dean would probably still be in some pain." Sam lowered her voice, "It's not for everyone, but if you can't help your friends..."

"Help can rule sometimes, though," Jaye says, dropping her voice, too, without even thinking about it.

"It definitely can," Sam nodded. "Like knowing that gummi bears are much stickier if you lick them first. Did you bring straws?"

"Didn't even think about it. Really? Licking them? Ew, that's awesome."

"Sat through way too many boring lectures," Sam explained, "but if you bite their heads off, lick them, then blow them through a straw at a target, you have better aim, more control, and a tensile adhesive roughly as strong as an industrial epoxy."

Jaye stares at her, grinning. "Have I told you lately that you are awesome?"

"What?"

"You just gave me a new hobby."

"If you get detention, you don't know me."
