School Assembly, Friday Afternoon, The Auditorium

After watching the crowd gather and encouraging them to settle down long enough to listen to people talk, The Tick began to speak.

"Welcome, students and faculty, to our first assembly of the year! We'll be doing these to help impart something to our students. Give them advice, entertainment, and something worthwhile to do on a Friday afternoon!"

"Today you'll be getting advice from several speakers. They are motivational speakers, people who speak and give advice to help you better yourself! They are the tops in their individual fields, respective Everests, and this assemply is your sherpa, helping you scale that mountain to a better you!"

"Some of today's speakers are professional motivational speakers! Some are fellow students with some special advice! And one is a local business owner just looking to help out!"

"I think it's about time to let them do their jobs now. Please give the speakers your undivided attention and have some fun!"

[OOC: Each speaker will have their own thread, plus there will be a Q&A thread at the end of the post for them to ping into. Please wait to ask the speakers questions until the speakers have pinged in.

There are also a couple of general conversation threads for people who don't want to give their undivided attention. :)

Big thanks to all of the speakers!]

Peter grinned at Conner. "You look thrilled. Honestly."

"Yeah." Conner had difficulty holding back a yawn. "I just can't contain my enthusiasm, really."

"Oh, I can tell," Peter replied. "You're practically sitting on the edge of your seat in excitement. On the other hand, it's better than class. Are you going to Homecoming next week?"

"It's next week?" Conner looked a bit annoyed with himself for forgetting. "Well, yeah. It'll be weird without a big game, but like I'd miss it!"

Peter nodded. "What game is usually played?" He asked. "There'll be a carnival, but that's hardly the same. Who do you think you'll ask then?"

"Fake football," Conner said, rolling his eyes. "I hadn't narrowed down who to ask yet. So many cute girls, so many choices . . ."

"We should have a quick real football match," Peter said. "Just to show them what they're missing." He grinned. "A difficult choice certainly."

"I know Pippi and Nadia would definitely be up for that. Maybe Ed and Al Elric . . . it'd be awesome if we could get that nun in town too, but I dunno if they'd let her on campus. Oh well." Conner shrugged. "Got any suggestions?"

"The park maybe unless the carnival's there?" Peter suggested. "Then the nun could play too." He grinned. "Carmela's pretty and sweet. And seems to think highly of you."

"The park could work, yeah."

"Really." Conner smirked, for just a second, before he caught himself. "Carmela, huh? That could work . . ."

Peter raised an eyebrow at the smirk. "This is where I say I wouldn't want to be forced to punch you if you hurt her in any way."

Conner gulped. "In between you and your girlfriend, I won't be making that mistake again."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter grinned. "Good then. If you take her, you won't mind if I steal her for a dance, will you?"

"Hey." Conner spread his hands in a gesture that could have been innocence, surrender, or possibly a combination. "I can be a very generous guy sometimes. I won't mind."

"Brilliant," Peter replied, chuckling. "I wouldn't think anything different of you."

"Not even if I ask if you'd let me dance with Willow once?" asked Conner.

Re: Before the Assembly

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter grinned. "Of course not. I should hardly be selfish enough to claim all her dances."

"What if Seely asks?"

Re: Before the Assembly

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-09-29 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter grimaced. "I would leave the decision up to the lady, of course," he said flatly.

This? This was why Conner's friends used to try and shut him up every time someone asked for an honest opinion and he volunteered to give one. Yes, he was kicking himself mentally right now. Yes, there were plenty of previous mental bruises. "Well . . . if he knows what's good for him he won't try anything stupid." 'Like asking' was the clear, if unspoken, implication. "If he does, there'll be a whole lineup of people happy to make him sorry."

"I'm not sure he does know what's good for him most days," Peter replied. "But hopefully Homecoming will be one of those few." He nodded. "But thank you."
