Science Club: In the Science Wing

Welcome to Science Club! I thought we could continue having meetings on Mondays. If anyone wants to change the date or sponsor an event, drop me a note.

If you missed the sign-ups for Science Club, we're still taking new members. We'll be having a weekly meeting with an activity until after Homecoming, and then we will also start planning for the Science Fair.

Please make sure you are on the list so you can get credit. Thanks!

Today, we are going to do another experiment... Lab Glassblowing. I've lined up all the materials you need, follow the tutotials and ask if you have any questions.

Oh, and per the new rules, this week you can't make any rayguns or other weapons. And per our [livejournal.com profile] equalsmcsquared's rules, NO BONGS. Don't tell me it is a vase. I'm not stupid.

Please post your completed project here. We'll take photos and make a bulletin board for the class! Thanks everyone. Torches are over there.

[OOC: Slow-play to your heart's content. Post a photo of your glass piece here. Don't hotlink directly, but a regular link works. Use Google Image Search if you're stuck for ideas.]

Broots glances at the project and sighs. "Bother."

"Nah, I just prefer theory to practice."

Allie comes in to the meeting and smiles at Lisa.

"Hey, what happened to you on Thursday? We still need to figure out what we're doing for our project in Starting a Small Business."

"Is everything okay now?"

"And I really couldn't come up with anything that wasn't medical related. I was thinking either a pharmaceutical company or a clinic or something."

"Marketing for a new drug would be interesting. I wonder if Ms. Gilmore-Danes would let that count since its not technically starting a new business?"

[ooc: it would totally count... ]

Let's go with the first. I think it'll benefit us both more for the future anyway.

[ooc: you on AIM? want to check something with you]

Um, I'm not on the list yet, but I signed up a little while ago, so I'll do the experiment anyway:Image

*Sigh* I guess I'll do the glassblowing. Though I was really looking forward to using this as an excuse to fiddle with my toxin.

There, happy now?

*sticks her head into the room quickly*

Lisa? Sorry I can't make it tonight; I've just got back from Colorado Springs, and I've got to get to a yearbook meeting. I'll see you tomorrow, okay?

[identity profile] notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com 2005-09-20 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I will do! I just won't drink coffee now, or I'll be up all night! See you later

Having missed last week's meeting due to not hearing about it until afterwards Thomasina has made a point of not only showing up but also being early this week. When she sees the supplies laid out for the project, she is a bit confused but decides that she's willing to try whatever it is they are to do at least once. Soon she has found that the lungpower needed is beyond her corseted ability, however, so she slips off to a girls' loo to do a bit of a quick change - allowing herself to go uncorseted in public for the first time since she turned thirteen. When she comes back, she tries again and is soon turning out a series of delicate, elegant glass spheres of various colours. After a bit of practice she even figures out how to attach little hanging loops to their tops. She thinks they'll look rather pretty hanging in the window of the room she shares with [livejournal.com profile] lizzy_turner.

After 6 hours of trying (because "I can't do that" is not in my vocabulary):

::smile:: Thanks. But what do I do with it?
