Library [09/22]

Sam was feeling only a little nervous as he headed over to open the library for the first time. Luckily, being surrounded by books did a lot to help him relax.

Maybe starting the day with World History reading wasn't the wisest idea, but Sam was trying to get it over with.

Sam's out at his Prophecy lab, but someone else should be around to help you.

Sam's back at the front desk, and armed with coffee. That should make reading a little better.

Now he's wandering around and putting books back. But there's a bell at the front desk if you need him.

The library was closed unless you were an aide or a librarian. Or a sneaky roommate, perhaps.

Sam stuck around for a while after lunch, just in case anyone else needed to come by.

Whee, done!

Dean, having a free period between classes, decided that it was his god given duty as big brother to go and ~~harass~~ check up on Sammy and his first day of work.

Finding him at the front desk with coffee and his nose buried in a book, Dean observed, "So this is pretty much your idea of heaven, huh?"

Sam looked up and smirked as he marked his page. "If it isn't heaven, it's certainly close enough," he replied. "I didn't think I'd see you in here. You haven't gotten lost or anything, have you?"

"Just because I'm not a geek like some little brothers I could name doesn't mean I don't occasionally visit the library and read a book," Dean informed him with great dignity.

Jamie yawned as he came into the library holding a very large trash bag.

He waved at Sam and proceeded to empty all the trash cans into said trash bag.

"Yeah, when you have to, for research." Sam snickered. "And I've decided that there's nothing wrong with being a geek."

Sam waved back and smiled. "Having fun?"

Dean shrugged and sat on the edge of Sam's desk. "Never said there was. I mean it's not a lifestyle choice I would choose, but..."

"Dandy," Jamie grumbled. "Got anything in the garbage cans behind the desk?"

Sam rolled his eyes. "Of course not. You're too cool for that," he teased. "But Dawn seems to be especially fond of geekiness, so..."

"So that's still going well?" Dean asked with a grin.

Sam peered down and checked before shaking his head. "Nope. I think you're good."

"I think so. I still don't know exactly how to classify what's going on between us, but whatever it is, it's good."

"Generally the accepted term is 'dating,'" Dean said, then narrowed his eyes at his brother. "Don't tell me. You haven't actually asked her out on an official date have you?"

"Well...no? I mean, there hasn't been much of a chance to. And it's not like we don't see each other every day anyway," Sam said defensively.

Alec wandered in and looked... well, sort of lost, though he didn't seem terribly worried about it either.

Sam tried not to look annoyed nor confused when he saw Alec come in. "Hey. Uh, are you looking for someone?"

Dean resisted the urge to facepalm. "Yeah, but you've seen each other every day practically since we got here. If you're going to go out with a girl, you actually have to, y'know, ask her out. Otherwise you end up in situations where you don't know what to call whatever it is you are doing." And yeah, Dean was perfectly aware that some of what he was saying applied equally to him and Alec, but that was completely different. Really. "You need to ask her out. Homecoming's coming up, you couldn't ask for a more perfect opportunity."

Alec was glad to hear a familiar voice and grinned at Sam. "No, why, you got someone for me?"
