If the classroom looked a bit like a discount Swedish furniture store had exploded inside of it, well...at least the projectiles were now easily replaceable.

Which might be a good thing.

Precisely on time, Darth Vader swept into the room and slammed the door firmly behind him.

"Today we talk about lying," he said, his masked face scanning the faces in front of him as he prowled around the classroom.

"Everyone lies," he stated flatly. "To hide things, to manipulate others, to avoid...unpleasantness." There was a definite hint of scorn in his voice at that last example. "In class today, you are required to pair up and only tell the truth." His cape whirled behind him. "And I can tell if you are not. Such disobedience will result in detention."

He paused for a moment. "And I don't believe in that axiom where if you cannot say something nice, you don't say anything at all. I do not require you to be nice. I require you to be honest."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Name. Place of birth. Classes you are taking," he barked out. "Proceed from there."

Bel shrugged as well. "Doesn't seem too hard from what I've seen," he said. "You just gotta convince twelve people that someone is innocent or guilty. I think I can do that. Figured it might be helpful for Phoebe and her sisters to have an inside contact with the law, too." He paused for a moment, trying to think of another safe question. "So what's your home like? Anything like this place?"

Aeryn shakes her head. "I was born and raised military. I don't think it could be less like here. You? I mean, I assume you don't have gremlins running around San Francisco, but..."

"I was only in San Francisco for the first three years of my life," Bel said. "After that it was the Underworld. It's pretty much like what you'd expect it to be. Lots of tunnels and caverns, torches on the walls, hot as, well, hell.

"So how do you deal with all the chaos around here? You must be used to a lot of order."

"I hit things a lot," she says honestly. "It's easier than it was a year ago. Mostly it's smiling and nodding and occasionally threatening to shoot things."

She pauses. "I didn't realize that was an actual place," she admits. "Did you like it?"

"Not at first," Bel said, squirming a little. "I was just a kid and it's a pretty scary place. But I guess I just got used to it. It doesn't bother me so much anymore." He forced a chuckle. "It's probably a lot more like where you're from than this place," he said. "Lots of discipline and stuff like that. Did you like growing up like you did?"

"I did. And I still think this place could use more discipline sometimes," Aeryn says. "I assume years in the Underworld is why you're in Pop Culture?"

Bel nodded. "Yeah. I know how to use a phone and a computer and stuff, because demons do keep up with technology, but there are a lot of references that people make that I don't get. I didn't know that 'private dick' meant 'private detective,' for one thing. You're in there for the same kind of reason, I presume?"

"I have no idea what people are saying to me more than half the time," she says, shaking her head. "I've at least dismissed the notion they're doing it on purpose. ...They wouldn't do it on purpose, right?"

"I think they're just used to saying things the way they do," Bel said. "But I wouldn't put it past a few people to deliberately try to confuse you." He glanced over at Jaime harassing Vader. "Like him, for example. Some people just have strange senses of humor. Why do you think Jamie's provoking Darth Vader like that?"

"Because he's Jamie," she says, looking over. "I think he thinks it's fun. Last week he tried to get me to bark for a Klondike bar. It didn't work."

She pauses. "So what would you do for a Klondike bar?"

Bel blinked. "What's a Klondike bar and why would I want one?"

[no worries, am being dragged out the door right now to go be a tourist with the parents. ;) ]

"It's a sort of ice cream. It's very good, but not worth embarrassing myself, in my apparently unpopular opinion," she explains.

"Ice cream is nice, but I've never heard of any that good," Bel said. "Only if it cleans your room and does your homework, too."

"I'll remember that for the next time Jamie asks me something about it," she says, and she's serious. "So, what are the differences between demons and humans?"

"Well, demons look different," Bel said. "This is my human form, but my demon form is bigger and, uh, redder. And demons bleed green, not red. You have any differences from normal humans?"

"Stronger, faster, better senses," she says, and Vader never said she couldn't omit a thing or two. It's still honest. "I'm sure there are probably more, but I'm still figuring those out." She frowns. "I don't think I've ever asked this many questions in my life."

"Me neither," Bel said. "Think we covered the assignment good enough?"

"I think did pretty well, actually," Aeryn says. "It's been good interrogating you."

"You too," Bel said, grinning.
