Ethics (September 14, 6th period)

If the classroom looked a bit like a discount Swedish furniture store had exploded inside of it, well...at least the projectiles were now easily replaceable.

Which might be a good thing.

Precisely on time, Darth Vader swept into the room and slammed the door firmly behind him.

"Today we talk about lying," he said, his masked face scanning the faces in front of him as he prowled around the classroom.

"Everyone lies," he stated flatly. "To hide things, to manipulate others, to avoid...unpleasantness." There was a definite hint of scorn in his voice at that last example. "In class today, you are required to pair up and only tell the truth." His cape whirled behind him. "And I can tell if you are not. Such disobedience will result in detention."

He paused for a moment. "And I don't believe in that axiom where if you cannot say something nice, you don't say anything at all. I do not require you to be nice. I require you to be honest."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Name. Place of birth. Classes you are taking," he barked out. "Proceed from there."

Krycek nodded to her. "Sure." He turned in his seat to face her, smiling slightly. "Alex Krycek. I was born in New York City and I'm taking Applied Science, Constant Vigilance, and, obviously, Ethics."

"Pleasure to meet you, Alex," she smiled a little. "Gwynn Hood of Locksley. I was born in Briton and I am taking Science!, World Religions, Introduction to 21st Century Culture, Astronomy, and apparently Ethics."

"Not a modern girl?" He honestly didn't have any particular questions, so he supposed chatting would have to do.

Gwynn shook her head. "Not in the slightest. I'm from 1199."

Krycek smirked slightly. "And I thought my culture shock was a little weird. Have you been adapting all right?"

"Things are a little more confusing than I am used to, but I have people that hep me learn about the weirdness. I did meet something called Talky Toaster and some creatures called Gremlins, too."

"Somehow I've managed to avoid the gremlins, despite being here a year," he said, not without relief. "What was the biggest adjustment to make, when you got here?"

"Telephones," Gwynn said automatically. "The idea that you could send messages quickly and along a greater distance than a herald could travel was something I never could have fathomed. There was also the voice mail."

"I could see how that'd be pretty different," Krycek said, nodding. "So what do you like best about things here?"
