If the classroom looked a bit like a discount Swedish furniture store had exploded inside of it, well...at least the projectiles were now easily replaceable.

Which might be a good thing.

Precisely on time, Darth Vader swept into the room and slammed the door firmly behind him.

"Today we talk about lying," he said, his masked face scanning the faces in front of him as he prowled around the classroom.

"Everyone lies," he stated flatly. "To hide things, to manipulate others, to avoid...unpleasantness." There was a definite hint of scorn in his voice at that last example. "In class today, you are required to pair up and only tell the truth." His cape whirled behind him. "And I can tell if you are not. Such disobedience will result in detention."

He paused for a moment. "And I don't believe in that axiom where if you cannot say something nice, you don't say anything at all. I do not require you to be nice. I require you to be honest."

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Name. Place of birth. Classes you are taking," he barked out. "Proceed from there."

"Excuse me? Your lordshipness?" Jamie said approaching the dark lord in a very polite manner. "I wanted to apologize for the whole Klondike bar thing last week. Apparently there are some people in the world who do not want a Klondike bar."

Jamie didn't really believe that but hey...

"Anyhow, in order to get us back on the right foot I got you something."

Jamie holds out an asthma inhaler.

Vader stared at it.

"I do not understand."

"Well I figured with the whole-"

Jamie goes into an imitation of Vader's breathing thing.

"-might be a little tiring. Asthma can be a real bitch and I thought maybe your world didn't have inhalers so I figured you might want to try it out and then maybe you don't have to wear the helmet. I know if I had to walk around without peripheral vision it'd make me cranky too."

Oh, look. The asthma inhaler's all crushed.

"I do not have asthma," Vader growled. "And you already have one detention, Mr. Madox."

"Is it allergies?" Jamie asked sympathetically. "Because I have this nose spray that works really well. You might be able to stick it through one of those face mask and get it up one of your nostrils."

"I don't have allergies!" Vader shouted, tossing one of the new Ikea lamps across the room.

Such impudence. He might have to appeal to Principal Washburn about the "no choking" thing.

"Then what's with the black leather and the heavy breathing?" Jamie asked, "It's like you're-"

Suddenly it dawned on Jamie. Black Leather. Heavy Breathing. Strong dominating teacher. It all made sense.

"Oh! I get it. Just so you know? There's a place called the fourth sin you might want to check out. They'll probably cater to your certain needs."

"OUT!" Vader bellowed.

"Don't worry! Your secret is safe with me!" Jamie said with a little eep as he ran out of the room.

Rory had a new cause when it came to Vader, after her talk with Aeryn and her evening on Tuesday. She figured she ought to take Aeryn's approach, and let him know where she stood.

"Leave him alone," she said quietly, perching on a desk after most of the class had filed out. "I know why you're here, and you're going to leave him alone."

"Skywalker is none of your business," Vader replied sharply, spinning around.

"Skywalker is very much my business," Rory replied. "You are not going to hurt him."

Luke and Rory.

Vader should've guessed that they would become friends.

He hadn't.

"You're not going to be able to stop me," he snapped. "He ruined some very important plans. There needs to be...restitution."

"I am definitely too small and weak to stop you. The student body as a whole is not," Rory replied. "We've taken on worse. We won't hesitate to do it again if you put Luke in danger."

"He'll get what he deserves," Vader replied, and if that sounded intimidating, well, it was supposed to.

And if Rory looked like she was trying to hide how much he scared her, well, she was working at it.

"You're right. He'll get a relatively safe and comfortable high school career, and a long life, because you're not going to alter that."

Vader crossed his arms over his chest. "That wasn't the plan."

"Plans change," she said flatly. "It wasn't my plan to run into my someone who could have been my son or to find out Anakin's been murdered by one of my teachers." She swallowed, trying to keep her resolve, and sneered slightly. "You'll adjust."

Vader's heart clenched at her words, which just fueled his anger. He thought he'd left the weaknesses of Anakin behind years ago.

"So will you," he said flatly.

"Already have," she replied. "You're the one who seems to be suffering under the delusion that you're going to hurt Luke."

Vader wasn't planning on hurting Luke.

Much.

Depending on your defintion of hurt.

"I'm not going to kill this Skywalker," he said, "unless he decides to do something stupid."

"Even if he does," Rory said evenly. "You aren't going to hurt him, or you're going to be dealing with a couple dozen angry and equipped people. Not to mention the administration."

"In the end, I don't answer to either of them," Vader replied, sounding frustrated. "Keep Skywalker out of my way, then, Ms. Gilmore, if you believe it to be so very necessary."

"He's a bit headstrong for that," she replied. "Takes after his dad."

"Then his destiny might be just as unpleasant," Vader replied.
