Library [09/14]

Rory opened the library a few minutes early, sweeping in a bit rain-splattered and windblown, but actually smiling.

She settled herself behind the desk, and after straightening the sign displaying the new aides, set to work rereading her favorite passages from The Complete Dorothy Parker.

"Oh, Angela was practicing speaking Dog yesterday. I was afraid something was wrong with her at first." Yomiko opened the door to her office and frowned at the folded paper thing on the fax machine. She didn't remember making an origami monster the day before...

"Oh, no, I only speak human languages, mostly," Rory assured her, oblivious to anything in the office. "So there might be random French or Spanish, but no Dog or Cat or anything."

"Oh? Have you read any Dumas?" Yomiko asked. "I generally find that things are so much better in the original language."

"I love Dumas," she replied. "I'm a big Cervantes fan, too. And I'm trying to learn Italian so I can read Dante's work the way it was written, too."

"I have Dante's work, but I'm afraid it's in storage back home," Yomiko said. Also, they were rare antique copies--they'd been bribes for completing an assigment--and she wasn't likely to loan them out.

"Lucky," Rory sighed. "I just have it in English, though I'm trying to track down a decently old Italian version."
