Intro to Magic, 5th Period (Week 2: 9/13/06)

Jenny has coffee for anyone that wants it, and a steaming mug of it seems to be perpetually attached to her hand. It's a good thing she's got a cover on it, as she's always gesturing as she talks.

"Please sign in. You know the drill, right? Today, we're going to be talking about how to raise magical energy. Some good ways? Music and dance. I've got a bunch of different instruments out. Or you could sing. Chant if you can't hold a tune to save your life. There's also meditation, but that's a lot less-- What's the word I'm thinking of? Oh, yeah. Fun.

I've got a few handouts, like this one on what magical energy is.

I know, I know, it's Llewyellyn. But it works for this class. Also, got some handouts on drumming for you, because if you've never been in a drum circle? Well, let's just say it's an experience.

So. Play music. Sing, chant, dance. Raise energy a different way. Sakura, does playing cards work for you? Or if you're not the performing type, talk about the handouts and ask any questions you've got. Works?"

Course Syllabus & Roster

OOC: Mod your own instrument, if you want one. Suggestions are drums, tambourines, triangles, finger cymbals, ocarinas, recorders--anything easy to play. Also, I do not have gmail access during the day, so it's best to ping me in the OOC thread for this course if you need anything. If you need something private, head over to Jenny's voice mail, as all comments there are screened.

Jenny whose player had seen one ep of Fullmetal Alchemist ever looked closely at Edward's arm. "So, uh, stupid question, but what's automail?"

Edward shucked off his customary white gloves so she could see his right hand better. He'd gotten used to this. "It's a type of prosthetic where I come from, made out of metal and wired into the nervous system. My right arm's completely false, all the way to the shoulder."

"Neat," said Jenny, looking more closely. "They can wire your arm directly into your nervous system? God, I love technology."

"Yeah, it allows me a much wider range of motion than any other sort of option," Edward said, rolling his sleeve up a bit more so she could see the forearm plate. "I can actually disconnect the arm, but it hurts like hell to reconnect it."

"Bio-mechanics, and a lot of medical background. I think." Edward shrugged. "I don't pay too much attention when my mechanic is working on it. If I pretend to pass out she won't brain me with a wrench for screwing it up."
