Hunting 101 - Class 2 (Wed period 7)

When students enter the Danger Shop they find themselves standing outside a large slightly rundown house. John was waiting for them, leaning comfortably against the side of an old impala. Beside him was a table, with the sign in sheet as well as another list of names paired up. It was also piled high with knapsacks.

"Welcome to our first practical class," John greeted them with a smile. "This is where we find out how well you apply what you've learned so far. Behind me is Elrod Manor. It's haunted by the ghost of a woman who was named Cassandra Elrod. She was killed by her husband Mark Elrod, who happened to be a serial killer. The legend goes that she found some rather grisly evidence of his activities and to keep her quiet he killed her and hid her body in the house.

"Since then her ghost has been seen countless times by many different people. They describe a very beautiful but sad woman who has appeared throughout the house but always disappeared at the end of the hallway on the second floor. There's also been an unusual number of accidents resulting in injury or death have occurred here. All of the victims have been married men. Those that have survived the attack describe a woman with features more horrific than beautiful."

He looked around at his students. "You're assignment is to lay her ghost to rest. Each of you will get one of this knapsacks that have everything in them that you should need to accomplish that. You'll work in pairs and each pair will go into the house in turn. As none of you are, to the best of my knowledge, married men, you should be relatively safe unless you antagonise her. My advice?" He smiled slightly. "Don't."

"Please pick up a knapsack and check the list to see who you are paired with and we'll get started."

When the students look inside the knapsacks they will find a flashlight, an EMF meter, an Infrared Thermal Scanner, a container of salt, lighter fluid and matches.

The list of pairings is as follows:

Sam Winchester, Will Vandom
Alec, Alanna Trebond
Belthazor, Dawn Summers
Pip Bernadette, Peter Pevensie
Seely Booth, Peter Parker
Bridge Carson, Conner McKnight
John Crichton, Charlie Kawalsky
Walter Dornez, Phoebe Halliwell
Jim Ellison, Pete Hutter
Dean Forrester, Hermione Granger

When everyone had got their equipment and found their assigned partners. John grinned at them wolfishly. "So, who's first?"

[ooc: wait for ocd is up! Go for it. If there is anyone who would actually fall under the category of "married man" please let me know so the ghost can react appropriately ;)

ETA: feel free once you've hooked up with your partner to just go into the house. We're handwaving the taking turns. Also forgot to put a flashlight amongst the equipment originally -- am adding it now.]

John waves the scanner towards where he'd just seen their girl and it pings.

"Okay, she's over there. You wanna go first, Charlie?"

"No." He grabbed the salt back off John, shook a bunch into his hand and tossed it in that direction as a test.

"Me either," John admits and waves the scanner some more. "We need ghostbusting guns."

"I don't think she likes us. After all we offered her. We offered you Monopoly, Twister, drinks at Caritas and a Peter Parker Pranking Experience!" He was starting to pull the lighter fluid and matches out of the bag now. "What more do you want, lady?!"

"Probably wants diamonds," John says, setting the scanner down. "Big fat rocks to show off to her ghost friends."

Re: Attic

"Holy crap!" John shouts and hits the ground quickly.

Kawalsky also ducked and instinctively tried to run for cover. "HEY! We were being nice!" He tossed the lighter fluid to Crichton.

And John, whose on his knees, sprays the lighter fluid in an erratic pattern towards the pissy ghost.

Kawalsky dodged again, but wasn't so successful this time. He got thwacked soundly by a box that knocked him off his feet. He scowled and fumbled for the matches. "And to think I was gonna play Twister with her." He lit one and tossed it at her.

"Well, hell," John says and shoots off the floor to try and avoid the flaming box. "I hate this woman. You are not getting chocolate! Go away!"

"I wasn't listening last week. What'd he say about having to burn something? I thought we burned the ghost!"

Re: Attic

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2006-09-13 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"We need to burn the body!" John says, suddenly remembering. "The thing that used to be her body or something!"

Re: Attic

"Oh," Kawalsky replied. "Right. So...yeah. We didn't plan this too good."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2006-09-13 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nope," John says and shakes his head. "Unless her body's in a chest or somewhere nearby."

"John Crichton, we are two of the luckiest bastards on the planet. Soak them."

Re: Attic

[identity profile] whitedeathpod.livejournal.com 2006-09-13 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"On it!" John douses the bones in lighter fluid. "Torch them!"

Re: Attic

[identity profile] kawalsky.livejournal.com 2006-09-13 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He lit another match and held onto it. "Quick, get out first or we'll be stuck in here!" He himself headed to the door, all the while watching the match burn down.

"Don't stay too long," John says, pats Charlie on the shoulder before scrambling out of the attic.

"Honey, it's been a blast, but it's time to go. Gimme a call if you're ever in Vegas!" He dropped the match onto the bones. "We'll do lunch!"
