"Good morning," V greeted quietly from the shadows when everyone had arrived. "Today we shall discuss the Judicial system of the United States, as well as due process."

He continued on in a low voice for a few minutes, hitting high points like the Miranda warning, trial by jury and the fifth amendment to the United States' Constitution, and stressing the fact that while their homes may be found in other places, the States is their home for the time being and thus is the system with which to chiefly concern themselves.

"However," V continued, "there are very definitely two sides to the law, and at least two parties to consider. Hence...we're going to engage in an activity."

He gestured expansively. "One half of you will be criminals who have been apprehended for a crime of your choosing. The rest of you will be the arresting officers, of sorts. Accused students? You are to attempt to escape arrest via whatever means necessary - nonviolent, please, but lying, cheating, conniving, negotiating...all of these are encouraged. And arrestors? You are to be fair, but stand by your principles and do your best to keep them from escaping, please."

He glanced at the roster for scarcely a second before saying, "If your surname, or only name if you have a single name, ends in an N or an R, you are a criminal. The rest of you are officers. Please pair up."

"I can shimmer, man," Bel said. "How are you going to keep me in a jail cell? You're just wasting your time."

"You broke the law. Bringing you in is not a waste of time."

"Bored now," Bel said. "You'll just have to catch me if you can then. Which you, well, can't."

Which was when Seely went to tackle Bel.

One shimmer express to the Underworld, coming right up.

So what if it was a really really really dumb idea?

Giving that Seely had no intention of letting Bel go, it was arguable who was dumber at that moment in time.

Then they may very well have ended up on a narrow ledge overlooking a pit of lava, somewhere in the Underworld.

Seely definitely wasn't letting go of Bel now. "Nice place you have here."

Bel shrugged. "It's home," he said. He grinned. "Could just leave you here."

"You really want to explain that to Teach?"

"Nah, I wouldn't," Bel said. "Would definitely fall under evil, and I'm good now. Just wanted to show you what I can do."

Seely looked over the ledge. "And it's very impressive."

"So you let me go, and I shimmer you back to class, deal?" Bel said.

Seely was principled, not stupid. "Deal."

Bel grinned and shimmered them back to the class room. "And the mighty Belthazor escapes to create havoc another day," he said.

"Just lay off the goats, or next time you won't get off so easy."

"Yes, sir," Bel snickered. "I'll stick to virgins next time."

"I'll make sure to warn Blair," Seely deadpanned.

"Not my type," Bel said almost automatically.

"Lucky for him then."
