"Good morning," V greeted quietly from the shadows when everyone had arrived. "Today we shall discuss the Judicial system of the United States, as well as due process."

He continued on in a low voice for a few minutes, hitting high points like the Miranda warning, trial by jury and the fifth amendment to the United States' Constitution, and stressing the fact that while their homes may be found in other places, the States is their home for the time being and thus is the system with which to chiefly concern themselves.

"However," V continued, "there are very definitely two sides to the law, and at least two parties to consider. Hence...we're going to engage in an activity."

He gestured expansively. "One half of you will be criminals who have been apprehended for a crime of your choosing. The rest of you will be the arresting officers, of sorts. Accused students? You are to attempt to escape arrest via whatever means necessary - nonviolent, please, but lying, cheating, conniving, negotiating...all of these are encouraged. And arrestors? You are to be fair, but stand by your principles and do your best to keep them from escaping, please."

He glanced at the roster for scarcely a second before saying, "If your surname, or only name if you have a single name, ends in an N or an R, you are a criminal. The rest of you are officers. Please pair up."

ETA: Due to various things, we're shorter on cops than we are on robbers. So extra robbers, please team up, or crash a thread to help one of the others escape. My apologies for apparently not being able to count or something.]

"If I have to sacrifice roast beets to get out of here, they can deal with eating just regular beets. Please? I'll be your best friend."

"I'm not sure that would be ethical on my part," Peter replied. "It's my job to hold you for questions."

"It's for the good of the children," John pleads. "And I'll slip you some fried celery."

"Don't believe a word he says," Dean said, coming up in his most bustling authoritative manner. He took one of John's arms, hoping Luke would pick up on his cue and take the other. "Good work officer. You've apprehended a dangerous and slippery character here."

"Very dangerous," Luke said, nodding and moving towards John's other side.

"I'm being framed!" John exclaimed, looking around. "This isn't fair. This is persecution against those who have 20 kids!"

"Your child-rearing, beet-eating habits are no concern of ours," Peter replied to John. He looked skeptically at Dean and Luke. "You two have some authorisation for removing my detainee from my custody?"

"Are you telling me that your office hasn't got the paperwork to you yet?" Dean asked with disbelief. He threw his hands up in the air. "Great! Just great! Stupid interagency pipelines, always slacking on the job. Oh, heads are going to roll on this one." He drew his attention back to Peter. "Not yours, officer. You're obviously in the unenviable position of being a good man working for idiots. Not your fault."

Peter shook his head. "Well, if you're sure this is authorised?"

"Absolutely," Luke said, nodding his head vigorously. "Come on," he said to John. "It's time to go."

"I plead insanity!"

"Yeah, yeah," Dean said, taking John's arm and starting to lead him off. "Tell it to the judge." He looked back at Peter. "Thanks for your help officer."

Peter nodded. "He's in your hands now. Watch out for the beets."

"I will build you all condos if you let me go. Condos with forts!"

"Shh," Luke hissed, hustling John away from Peter. "You're going to blow this."

John nods subtly. "I'm never gonna see my kids again! Tell them daddy loves them!"

Dean hid a smirk. John at least seemed to get it. "You should've thought about that before you embarked on a life of crime," he told him, all the while keeping all three of them moving away from Peter. He wondered exactly how far away they needed to be in the classroom to be deemed an escape.

"You're way better at this than Han," Luke commented, still walking away.

Peter watched them go for a second before facepalming at realising he had just been an idiot.
