Daisy was seated in her oversized arm chair at the side of the classroom reading a copy of Playbill magazine when the students entered. There was a stack of papers on the podium with a sign stating "take one" above them. When everyone had entered and had some time to take the quiz, she set aside her magazine and gracefully got to her feet.

"As the papers say, those quizzes are not going to be graded. That wouldn't be fair, and apparently fairness, though not required in the majority of the real world, is something that you kids are supposed to get in a classroom setting. They're simply a bit of fun and to find out what you already know about the basic terminology of theater." She picked up another stack of papers and started passing those out. "On these sheets, you'll find the correct answers to the quiz, as well as a lot of other facts and terminology about theater. Some of these terms you, as actors, will never actually need to know. That's pretty much anything about lighting or sound equipment, if you're wondering. But a lot of them you do need to know. When a director tells you you need to cheat out, or to move upstage left, if you end up looking up the answers to your history test or walking forwards and to your right, you might be in a bit of trouble.

"So today we're going to practice some of these terms. I want you to pair up or work in groups of three. You'll take turns as the actor and as the director, and I want to you block an imaginary scene. The director will give you instructions using the terms on these sheets, and you'll follow them. Or don't. That's really up to you and I can't actually tell you what to do, but as long as you understand the terms, I don't really care."

That said, Daisy gestured for the students the students to begin and made herself ready to move from group to group and help out where necessary.

Daisy isn't choosing the groups for you this time, pair up as you will. I have a meeting at work on Tuesday from about 2 pm, so I'll be afk for awhile, but Daisy will be in and out as much as possible.]

"That works." John holds up his arm. "I'll call action, you start making stuff up and then I'll throw in random directions. Work?"

"Works," Angela agreed.

She started mincing about the classroom, scowling and oocasionally stomping on imaginary weetiny zombie bunnies.

"Okay, start doubling!" John calls. "Basically, play two parts. So, be the pirate and the zombie bunnies."

Angela bit her lip, trying not to laugh as she hopped and lurched like a bunny, then quickly rose and turned to be the pirate. "Arrrrgh."

John does a really good job of not laughing. He does snicker though.

"Good job!" He flips through his sheets and look for something else to shout. "And now be a corpse. But not dead, just start laughing on stage just because."

It wasn't hard, given that she was about to laugh anyhow. Angela started laughing, slightly at first, then louder and louder.

She tried to be piratey about it, which translated to "snicker, booty, snicker, hahahaha, rum, hahahahah."

And that sends John into a gigglefit as well. "Good good. We'll win a Tony for sure. And now, for the grand finale...upstage the bunnies by drawing dramatic attention to yourself!"

Angela blushed and stood straighter.

And began to sing a very, very giggly version of "Ye Hills Be Alive with the Sound of Music."

John's eyes light up and he starts clapping. "Bravo! Bravo! That was awesome!"

"Thanks," Angela said, looking pretty proud of herself. "What part do you want for your turn?"

"I will be...an elf. An elf who is trying to thwart the evil mastermind, Bazooko and his band of evil...grasshoppers!"

"Okay," Angela said, flipping through the sheets. "Um, start by pretending the grasshoppers are downstage left from you. Move to attack them."

Ne nods and stoops low and then literally bounces downstage left. He also puts his fingers near his ears to stimulate elf ears. And then he kicks at the grasshoppers once he's downstage left.

"What's with the hands?," Angela wondered aloud, before recognizing them. "Um, okay. Now play the elf as an ingenue. That's a young female lead."

John laughs and bends his fingers a little to signal dainty ears.

"Oh, grasshoppers, dear. Don't kick mud on my skirt," he says, while kicking daintily at the grasshoppers. "It's a Vera Wang!"

Angela facepalnmed at that, just a little. "And for your finale? Um, Mr. Sands is in the wings. Exit downstage into the audience and try to get everyone to follow you."

John jumps off the stage and starts motioning wildly with his arms. "Come one, come all, follow me and I'll give you lots of money! We must escape the grasshoppers and their evil wrath! Follow me and I will lead you to a utopia!"

And some people do follow, just not all of them.

"Only a couple of people got fake burned up," Angela said, applauding John. "So yay, that worked. We rock as actors."

"Whoo hoo!" John fist pumps. "You're a good director. And I am terrible at being a girl elf."

"You were a Parker elf," Angela said. "With the Versace."

"Only thing I could think of," John says as an excuse. "I'm not very girly."

"I've heard about Johnina," Angela said.

"Yeah, she's a good friend of mine," John lies.

"And she's never discussed beauty tips with you?"

"We only talk once in awhile," John says. "She's a busy person."
