This morning the table is set with scones, tea and coffee, just as it was last week. Once the class is settled in, Aziraphale begins to speak.

“Today’s discussion is on the major historical figures associated with prophecy. As I am only familiar with Earth history of my own world, I apologize if I leave out someone you feel ought to be on the list. You are welcome, however, to add to the discussion and introduce the class to anyone you feel has been overlooked. And also, do keep in mind that this is only a listing of the most notable figures. A discussion of everyone throughout history who has been considered a seer of some sort would take far longer than a single class period. Please also keep in mind that I am not attempting to put any sort of seal of approval on these people. Whether or not they were ‘true’ prophets is not the point of this discussion.”

In-class assignment:
If you haven't already done so outside of class, form groups of three or four and begin discussing ideas for your group project. Your proposals are due on Friday of next week.

Homework assignment:
Write a brief essay about an experience you had with a person who was connected in some way with prophecy – a seer, a fortune-teller, the subject of a prophecy, etc. This person does not have to be a “professional” prophet, neither do you have to have believed in the truthfulness of the prophecy. For example, you could write about the time you had your palm read at the fair, or the time you met the author of a book on prophetic dreams, or about an oracle you once visited, or a religious seer whose prophecy affected you personally. You have two weeks to complete this assignment, as it will not be due until September 25.

Before the class departed, Aziraphale informed them that he had two announcements to make. "First..." He looked a bit disappointed. "I will need some form of written excuse from Mr Constantine, in order to excuse his absence last week. Second, and this is much better news: we will be embarking on a field trip with another class in November, to Las Vegas. You'll be receiving permission slips to be signed within the next couple of weeks."

Phoebe grinned at her. She would so not be upset if Lavender were ever to squeal at the adorableness.

Blair waved to Lavendar from where he was at and resisted the urge to stick his tongue out at Bel for the crack about partnering.

Bel eyed Blair. "Guess you're stuck with me," he said.

"Likewise, man." Blair smiled. "Oh hey, wanna sign my cast (http://lovechildblair.livejournal.com/25002.html?thread=371882#t371882)?"

Bel leaned over to sign the cast, then looked up and asked, "What happened?"

"I was trying to talk to River when she had her...uh...issues the other night." Blair said quietly. "I'm thinking she didn't really know it was me."

Or he was hoping at least.

Bel's eyes narrowed. "She hurt you, too? How many other people did she beat up?"

"Besides me and Phoebe, Peter has cracked ribs, Nadia got tasered, Kaylee got shoved around and I think Pip got kicked..um...in a sensitive spot." Blair winced and shook his head. "But it was an accident, man. There was something wrong with River that made her lash out at us."

"There's something wrong with her all right," Bel grumbled.

"But we'll forgive her and help her get over whatever is wrong?" Blair said hopefully.

"She lays one hand on Phoebe again and I break it off," Bel said. "Same goes if she tries to take a walk through my head."

"Or we could take that route." Blair rolled his eyes. "I'm really sorry Phoebe got hurt, man. But I don't think that breaking hands is a good idea."

"She read your mind? Seriously?"

"She tried to," Bel said. "I told her it would be a bad idea. She doesn't want to play with the demon."

"Bel, you're my friend and all...but you're a little scary." Blair nodded.

"I...I kinda like River. We were supposed to have a date on Sunday."

"Never figured you for a masochist, Blair," Bel said. "But if that's what you like. . . ."

"Very funny, man." Blair frowned. "She's not normally like that!"

"Does she normally try to read people's minds uninvited, too?" Bel asked. "Or was that an accident?"

"She's picked up stuff from me without asking. But I'm not sure it's something she can control." Blair shook his head.

"She better learn to control it," Bel said. "I don't want her in my head. What's in there is mine and mine alone."

"I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to be in your head, man." Blair shuddered.

Bel looked Blair over. "You gonna teach her to meditate and control her head or something?"

"That's a good idea, man!" Blair smiled. "I'll have to ask her if she wants to do that."

"You do that," Bel said. "Good luck with it."

"Hey Blair, how's the arm?"

"Decent, man." Blair smiled.
