Health, Friday, Third Period

"Hi!" Summer greeted the other students. She sounded genuinely enthusiastic.

"So there's good news and bad news. Bad news? Dr. Reid can't be here because she has the flu. Ew!" she continued, horrified by the thought of being sick. "Good news? You get me instead! Although I'm not actually gonna do any teaching because, seriously, I'm not qualified. She left this video for you all to enjoy, though."

Elliot appears on the videotape, looking near-death.

"Hey, everyone. Sorry to miss the first day of class -- I decided to be sane and not share my flu with all of you. Summer Roberts is your TA, please treat her well.

"This should be pretty easy class, because it's about you guys. We'll be discussing stuff like diet and fitness, hygiene, peer pressure, alcohol abuse, stuff like that. And of course we have a sex ed unit, which will probably embarrass me about five hundred times more than any of you. Summer has copies of the syllabus

"I'm going to give you some pointers to websites that we'll be using all semester, and that might cover some topics we won't get to in class. Check out http://www.kidshealth.org/teen, http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/teenhealth.html and http://www.teenhealthfx.com .

"And even though I'm not there? I'm going to use my power and give you guys homework. Please keep a food and exercise diary for the next week. Next Friday, we'll share them and look at how your eating habits fit into the food pyramid at http://www.mypyramid.gov.

"For today, just fill out the survey Summer's handing out and pass them back in. I promise not to read your answers out loud or anything, this is just for my information. Once you've done that, you can call it a week and I'll meet you all the 15th. Oh, and my office hours are Monday and I should be feeling better by then, in case any of you desperately need to meet me sooner."

When the video ended, Summer handed each student a syllabus and a survey. She certainly didn't contemplate reading the surveys. Nope. Not at all.

What are your main health concerns right now?: I think a teacher of mine has Asthma. Other than being evil for a week I'm fine.

Do you have any concerns about the sexual education and family health unit?: Too much Family health, not enough sexual education.

Why are you taking this class?: It sounded interesting, and I thought was someting that might come in handy eventually.

What are your main health concerns right now?: Mostly just my fitness. I need to get back into sports or something.

Shawn pauses before filling in the last question, then decides he might as well go for it.

Tell me something important about yourself.: I have a healing touch, if you want to get rid of that flu.

Why are you taking this class?: It is an important and practical subject to have knowledge in.

What are your main health concerns right now?: I'm going through a...transition soon, and I'm not sure how it will effect my body. Hopefully, what I learn here will help in preventing the changes from effecting me negatively.

Do you have any concerns about the sexual education and family health unit?: ...Gulp. No.

There was a long pause before Sakurazaki answered the last one.

Finally, she did, in very small letters: Currently, I do not have a normal human phsyical make-up. Can elaborate more if needed. Most important thing about that, though, is probably my wings.

Why are you taking this class?: ~~I didn't get into hunting~~ I thought it would come in useful when slaying and stuff.

What are your main health concerns right now?: Avoiding zits.

Do you have any concerns about the sexual education and family health unit?: Do fake sisters count as family?

Tell me something important about yourself.: I'm the slayer, I have great fashion sense, and I don't like hospitals.

Jamie sat and wondered if he should create a duplicate just so he can fill out the survey again.

And for some reason another Jamie shows up in class giving the other Jamie a weird look. "Okay... who are you and what are you doing here?"

"It's about time you started showing up for class," Jamie replied with a little glare. "I've been covering for you all week.

"And which one are you?" Jamie asked. "You're not evil are you?"

"No but I'm the guy who would've saved you a trip to the clinic if you had returned my phone calls," Jamie replied with a little eyeroll. "Seriously, if you wanted me to find out that Marie was an alternate dimensional Rogue you should have called me back."

"Hey! That was the evil dupes fault!" Jamie replied. "I can't help it if he deleted the messages."

"Nice try. You know he deleted the messages because you absorbed him," Jamie replied. "So you still could have called me back."

"I was... busy." Jamie said lamely. "I was trying to make sure I didn't duplicate or anything. Which reminds me, have you seen our suit?"

"Yes. I burned it," Jamie replied. "You don't need it anymore."

"But! But! What happens if I duplicate and that-"

"Have you been paying attention to my e-mails?" Jamie said with a sigh. "I've picked up a few tricks at Xavier's. Been working on that whole empathic link thing. I'm assuming I'll be assimilated soon?"

"Yeah. We'll do that in a second. Anything else I need to know?"

"Er, yeah. You have detention tomorrow."

"What?"

"The ethics teacher didn't like it when I countered his question about what would you do for love with 'What would you do for a Klondike Bar?"

Jamie thought about it for a second. "Wait. That's a totally legitimate question! There's got to be someone in the universe who'd do anything for a Klondike bar."

"This is what I'm saying!"

"All right well thanks for letting me know," Jamie replied with a sigh and the absorbed the duplicate.

Shawn pulls out a notebook, and starts scibbling down the homework assignment, then he gets bored and reverts to doodling. He has a fairly short attention span today.

Jamie waves at the guy he hasn't met before. "Hey. How you doin'?"

Shawn looks up from his syllabus, quite glad of the interruption. It'll be saving it from getting doodle-covered. "I'm doin' okay."

"Don't think we've met," he continued. "I'm Shawn."

"Jamie Madrox," Jamie said offering his hand for handshake. "Are you totally new here or did I imagine seeing you around earlier in the summer?"

"Yeah, was here for the first half of the summer." He took the hand extended to him, and grinned. "Decided I liked it enough to come back here for this semester."

"Did you do anything fun while you were away?" Jamie asked.

"Spent a month in a cramped cabin with my family," Shawn chuckled, "Not my idea of a party I got to admit. Siblings have this uncanny ability to be able to drive you nuts."

"You spend your entire summer here?" Shawn asked.

"Yeah. It was pretty cool for the most part," Jamie replied. "The workshops were a lot of fun and the people here are pretty cool."

"Yeah, most of the first half I had here was pretty fun. Better than I expected, then there were the Jello Dragons. That was an interesting event to leave on I thought."

Sakurazaki noted the assignment, frowning, because she knew that there would be a lot of excersize logs, and very few food entries, and it wasn't going to make her look very good.

And then she noticed that Jamie actually was chatting amongst himself. It boggled her. Just a wee bit.

Finally, it is Friday! Yay!
