Applied Science, Week 1, Thursday 2nd Period

Billy rubbed the bridge of his nose anxiously, leaning against the edge of his desk at the front of the room as he waited for class to begin. He greeted each student with a smile and a nod as they entered, and was all-business when the bell finally rang.

"Good morning, class!" he greeted. "My name is Billy Cranston, and I'll be teaching Applied Science - as if that wasn't obvious. I've earned my doctorate in Physics, but if you call me 'Doctor' I won't really like it. Billy is fine."

He tried not to pace, picking up a notebook that was sitting on the desk behind him. "Today is going to be a pretty easy day. All I really want from you is an introduction and why you're taking this class. Mostly," Billy smiled sheepishly, "because I had a spectacular computer glitch this week and lost my entire syllabus. So next week we'll begin real classes, and before that I'll make sure everyone recieves a copy of the syllabus. Now! Let's begin."

"I'm Shawn, I'm a junior, transferred from Seattle." He paused, "uh, interesting fact... does telling you I come from Seattle count? Anyway, I'm here mainly because I don't know a whole lot about sciences, and I thought I should change that."

"Um...I'm JC Broots, just Broots please. I'm a So-Junior and I'm from about twenty minutes away. Um...I like computers."

"I'm Alphonse Elric, a sophomore," he answered. "And, um... I'm not from anywhere near here. Even though alchemy is my main field, I would at least like to familiarize myself with all the aspects of science, so that's why I signed up for this class."

"~~Eeeeee~~ Z Delgado, I'm a junior from Newtech City, California. Um, I plan to work for SPD, and I'm here because--okay, I should probably be in like a remedial class? But you're Billy Cranston." Fangirl? Who, Z?

"My name is Hikaru Hitachiin, I'm a freshman." Pause. "I really like maple syrup and I'm here because I like science, so it would be an obvious choice for me."

"I'm Janet Fraiser, I'm a senior, and I'm here because I had an elective slot open and wanted another science class. There's really nothing much interesting about me." She shrugged. "I plan on majoring in biochemistry and then attending medical school."

"I'm Schrodinger. I'm a sophemore, and the man who made me in a lab thought it would be a good idea I understand some of the stuff that went in my creation. Oh, and my intresting fact is that I was made in a lab."

"Alex Krycek, I'm a senior, and once I was a Russian secret agent," he said, in a fit of whimsy. "I'm here because it seemed like an interesting class."

"My name is Alfons Heiderich and I am a senior," that's what it was called, right? He paused for a moment, thinking on that, then went on. "I am what people refer to as a rocket scientist. I though it would be nice to broaden my horizons a little by taking this class."

"Conner McKnight, and I'm a senior, from Reefside, California. I'll be your awesome TA for this class! An interesting fact about me? Um . . ." Conner tangled a hand up in his hair in agitation. "I actually do have an intelligent side."

He paused. "No, seriously."

"Hermione Granger, I'm a sophomore," she says. "I'm from 1995, and I'm here because I haven't had a lot of education in science in the last few years and think I should catch up."

"I'm Zack Addy, I have a genius level IQ, and I'm here because I want to be a scientist once I graduate."

"I'm Peter Parker, I'm a junior, I created a synthetic liquid string adhesive, and I'm here because I'm a science nerd who wants to be able to use my knowledge in a practical way."

Yep.

Shawn has a notebook and pen out and ready just in case. Not that he's using it for anything useful. Just doodling.

Conner wasn't looking around for Z or anything. He totally wasn't in need of someone to fanboy with. Really.

TAs are above that sort of thing.

And if you believe that, there's this bridge . . .

Z scribbled 'OMG' on a piece of paper and held it up where Conner could see it.

Conner dug a blue highlighter out of his backpack and scrawled "I KNOW!!!!!" on a piece of paper, which he held up in response.

Z wrote 'TA???' on her piece of paper and held it up.

'Ran into him in town last week. He asked. Isn't it a total trip?!?' Conner wrote back. 'It's like, it's BILLY!'

'So unfair!' Z wrote. 'BILLY!'

'BILLY!!!' Conner scribbled back, underlined five times, then, 'I suck at science! OMGWTF?!?'

Z switched to a fresh sheet of paper. 'So do I! We can suck at science together!'

Conner used up an entire sheet of paper for his reply: 'NOT DIRTY?'

'NOT DIRTY OMG'

'BUT OMG BILLY!!!!!'

'OMG BILLY!!! Who's next, Kim Hart?'

'Dude. She was HOT! Or Jason Lee!'

'~~I think he was in a porno once~~ What about Andros?'

'~~I think I saw that on late-night TV once.~~ Andros would rock.'

Slowwwwwplaayyy...

In case I missed anything or whatever. I have incredibly limited computer access, since I'm using Yondaime's computer (mine died), so I'll try to get back to you as much as possible. Blargh. Conner can field some questions for you, but I'll try to get online tonight after work.
