Criminal Justice [1st period, Tuesday]

When students first entered the Criminal Justice classroom, it appeared to be empty, and the lights were slightly dimmed.

However, those who were especially observant, or have special sensory powers that allow them to notice such things, might have noted a figure off to the side, tucked into a shadow in the corner.

"A pleasant morning to you all," V greeted silkily once everyone had arrived, as he emerged from the shadow, lightly flicking his cape over one shoulder and clasping his gloved hands behind his back. "You are all here because you have a desire to learn more of this 'criminal justice,' I presume. Perhaps you have a personal investment - a vital verdict of vengeance or a vigorous, violent, vivid urgency to change your world or vindictate your own victorious verisimilitude."

He quirked his head at the class. "In short, a cause. Crime is relative; what may be one's grandest cause, their sacred ideal, is another's travesty - or worse, meaningless. Your mission is to make others care for your ideas, to feel what you feel."

He started passing out papers. "These are your syllabi. Over the next term, I expect students to gain a grasp of the workings of the law, a solid interpretation of justice, but most of all I want you to come away from this class with a purpose and a direction."

"We shall start with investigating the following question: what, to you, is a crime? What is something that would drive you to seek a way to right things? Or has driven, if you choose to give a personal example, though theoretical examples are fine. I'd also like to hear all your names, if you don't mind."

"I'll begin," he said, pulling off his hat and giving a slight bow. "Please, call me V - no 'Professor V,' or 'Mr. V,' as I do not care for titles nor do I find them necessary. Simply V. I view anything that wrongs an innocent as criminal, and those who inflict such damage should be brought to justice. At the moment I'm seeking a new cause, though for several years I pursued the goal of destroying a corrupt government due to their massacre of unsuspecting, unguilty individuals. I reminded them that governments serve people, rather than intimidate them or worse."

He quirked his head expectantly at the class.

[First of all, wait for OCD is up. Secondly, I'll be around until abooooooout 3 AM EDT, then asleep, and then I'll be on fairly steadily through Tuesday afternoon with some slight iffiness around 1 and 3:30 PM due to commuting except not really because class was canceled yay.]

Believe it or not, Bel was studiously taking notes.

But that didn't mean he couldn't be interrupted.

Seely didn't throw a spitwad at Bel to get his attention, that was the other vampire lookalike, honest.

Bel looked up and blinked. "What?" he said irritably, now that email was working again and he finally got the comment notification.

"Hey. Did you guys find Marie okay? I didn't hear about it on the radio until way after."

Bel nodded. "We found her. She's pretty shaken up but she's gonna be okay," he said.

And hopefully Jaime would be as well, or Marie would never forgive herself.

Aeryn's never taken notes in class and she isn't about to start. That also doesn't mean she isn't paying attention.

Layla didn't want to get into trouble in her very first class, so she was writing down as much as she could. Possibly too much, but better safe than sorry.

Dean glanced over at Layla and hid a smile; it reminded him of Dawn's diligent notetaking the day before. He was surrounded by pretty overly studious girls it seemed. "Y'know, you probably don't need to take down every word," he said, echoing his words from yesterday as well.

Layla glanced between Dean and her notes. "But I don't know what he might want to know later," she said nervously.

Seely took notes.

They just mightn't have been notes on Criminal Justice.

"You look like my former roommate," John says not caring if Seely's heard this before. "Is your name Cherub?"

Teddy divided his time between taking notes and doodling on the side of his notebook. If one looked closely they could see a tiny little stick figure on fire, a really stretchy little stick figure and an invisible stick figure... that last not being something they could actually see, but Teddy knew it was there and that's what matters.

Alanna taking notes, she just had a tendency to loose track of where she was every few minutes.

Alec didn't take notes. He also was only kind of half listening through a lot of the rambling, but he could remember the important bits if he needed to.

"Hey," Dean said, catching Alec's eye. "Did you make a date with Angela?"

In the back of her mind, Layla knew that Dean had mentioned a guy at the school named Alec who looked like him. But the whole identical thing didn't really sink in until she actually saw him. As a result, she may have been staring a little.

Peter took notes carefully. Though he hoped he already had a purpose and sense of justice.

Seely leaned across to the guy sitting near him to whisper. "Any idea what's with the mask?"

Dean took notes, but without the diligence he'd done so in prophecy. There he was taking down information that might lead to a way to help his brother. Here, it was just a class, although one with some interesting philosophical conversations so far.

Still he did manage to jot down most of the key points.

Luke didn't look completely freaked out by the teacher.

Really.

Except for the part where he totally did.

Seeing a familiar face, Teddy waves at Luke.

"Hey! You're in my Interstellar Relations class, Luke right?"

Jack was actually taking notes. He was finding the subject - so far - surprisingly interesting. And he thought V's cape was kind of cool.

He was also grinning to himself as he remembered the last time he'd been around a guy in a cape and a mask.

Peter spent most of class wondering if this guy was a supervillain or an anti-hero. Either way, V was somebody that he'd have to fight in his world, which made Peter glad that he wasn't in his world at the moment. V seemed tough and smart. That wasn't a good combination.
