Cross Species Communications - Monday - 7th Period (Week 1)
She quite liked this new fangled white board, it wasn't dusty at all. So she could be sure that chalk wouldn't mar her smart black dress with the shiny brass buttons. Her freshly starched apron crackled as she turned to regard each student as they entered and took their seat. She was looking from student to student searchingly, as if she was trying to decide if she liked them or not. Students who passed near her would note she smelled faintly of newly made toast.
Finally she closed her eyes, inhaled deeply through her nose, and nodded.
They'll do.
"Good day children." she said. "I am Mary Poppins and I am hear to teach you Beginning and Intermediate Creature Languages. Or, as the class has been dubbed this year, 'Cross Species Communications'."
"I have here a description of the lessons, from the previous teacher, Professor Morphius. We will be covering some languages that were introduced last year. When that is the case the students who took that class last year, and I do mean all of you, will assist the beginning students. My Teacher's Assistant is Walter Dornez. Walter? Will you be so kind as to pass out the papers with the Class Rules please sign the paper and turn it in."
Mary stood up, she appeared to have a tape measure in her hands.
"As you turn it in please state your name and tell us a little something about why you are taking this class. After which, we will see how you measure up..."
She pulled a bit of tape measure out and let it snap back.
"After every one has introduced themselves, you may all go early."
