Wilderness Survival Redux - Week 7 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

"Today," Callisto addressed the class. "As a new and novel experience, I'm actually giving you clothing to wear."

She pointed to a pile of masks, gloves, elbow and knee pads, and body armour "There should be something in your sizes there. Get changed."

After everyone had gotten changed, she pulled out a slingshot and a pouch full of paintballs, and continued. "Today's class is simple. You run, I hunt, you make it to the end of the class without being caught or me shooting you, I don't make you go back to the dorms naked. You have until I reach two hundred to get out of here."

With that Callisto closed her eyes and started counting.

The rustling might have been replaced by a soft whoosh, followed by a scrabbling noise, as if someone had just leapt from the bushes into the treetops.

Which caused Peter to wonder if he was being stalked by Callisto or by a panther. He took a quick look to the trees, trying to catch a glimpse of anything non-arboreal before moving.

Peter, might, just might, have caught a glimpse of sun shining off blonde hair.

Peter tried to weave his way around to cover away from where he noticed Callisto. He also was beginning to feel badly for deer.

An another louder rustling came from a bush on Peter's right.

Suppressing his first instinct to dive towards the person stalking him, Peter ducked behing a tree again.

Now the rustling, again louder, came from the bushes on Peter's left.

Peter stilled and listened carefully. Then stayed exactly where he was, keeping a close watch around him.

The rustling sounded closer to Peter now.

Peter continued to scan his surroundings for colours or metal that didn't belong in the woods.

The rustling came from right next to Peter.

Peter moved around the tree away from the sound.

A whistle came from the tree branches above Peter.

Deciding not to look up for the paintball in the face, Peter dove for the bushes near him.

Now she had a clear shot, Callisto fired a paintball at Peter's back.

Oh, yes, THAT's the tingle of 'hey, I'm an idiot and exposed myself' between Peter's shoulders right before the paintball hit.

"Back to the clearing," Callisto said. "You don't actually have to get naked until the end of class."

Peter shook his head and grinned at her. "Really, you're too kind."

"Well, Willow's done the public nudity thing, you'll be a matching pair this way."

"Kind and considerate," Peter replied, still mostly amused. Mostly because the fact he'd be going back to the dorms naked hadn't set in yet. "Did you feel the need to keep our clothes forever then? Or shall we get them back?"

"You'll get them back before I leave," Callisto replied.

Peter turned more serious for a second. "I'm glad to know you. You shall be missed when you leave."
