Wilderness Survival Redux - Week 7 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

"Today," Callisto addressed the class. "As a new and novel experience, I'm actually giving you clothing to wear."

She pointed to a pile of masks, gloves, elbow and knee pads, and body armour "There should be something in your sizes there. Get changed."

After everyone had gotten changed, she pulled out a slingshot and a pouch full of paintballs, and continued. "Today's class is simple. You run, I hunt, you make it to the end of the class without being caught or me shooting you, I don't make you go back to the dorms naked. You have until I reach two hundred to get out of here."

With that Callisto closed her eyes and started counting.

Tyler eyed Dean as he yanked on his padding. "Hey. I want to ask you something."

Tyler bounced a little on his heels; if it was nothing, he'd feel like a moron.

"It's Alec," he said. "He's barely gotten out of bed in days. Figured you know what's up with him better than anyone."

That got Dean's full attention. "Has he been doing anything else?" Dean asked, remembering the last time Alec was spending all of his time sleeping. "Twitches, shakes?"

"Just the sleeping that I've seen," Tyler said. "And I don't think he's eating."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I asked him, and he said he doesn't get the flu."

Dean shook his head, distracted. "No, he probably doesn't." Even if Tyler hadn't seen any tremors didn't mean Alec wasn't having them; he was damn good at hiding. But Dean couldn't figure out why -- he knew Alec had an ample supply of the trypto. If this was all because the idiot had forgotten to take his pills, Dean was going to kick his ass all over the school.

Tyler squinted on concentration. "Do you have an idea what this is?" Something in Dean's manner suggested the answer was yes, but he couldn't be sure.

"Yeah, I've got an idea or two," Dean replied, focusing back on Tyler. "I'll come check on him after class. I'd say go now, but somehow I don't think Callisto would take kindly to people just walking out of her class." Besides, if all Alec was doing was sleeping, he should be okay for that length of time. Or so Dean told himself.

Tyler looked over at Cal. "Think you're right," he said. "We'll try to get through clas without getting killed then head back to 311."
