The dangershop was set up as a classy, futuristic function room, with holographic waiters carrying trays of food and drink, and Harper was wearing a suit instead of his usual clothes. "This is our last class," Harper said, fidding with his tie. "Congratulations on surviving so far. Since, as I just said, we're going to be doing something a little different today."

"We're going to be having a party. However, you are not going to be the only guests. This is an important conference, with many important dignitaries and assorted others attending. Your job is not just to have a good time, you also have to ensure they do too. Schmooze, mingle, butter them up, try to not to start an interstellar war. The usual kind of thing."

"One more thing. Not everyone at this conference is here for the conference, amongst the guests, there are people with other agendas. Some worse than others. Try and figure out who these people are and what they want."

He tapped a control and the room filled with guests.

"Go on, get out there and mingle."

Parker's there. It's not her class, but hey. Free food. Diplomacy. Which is basically directing oeople to be mad at people other than her. Woot.

"Hey, Parker," grinned Elizabeth, weaving her way expertly through the crowd to stand by her. "Nice to see you here."

"Thanks!" Parker smiled brightly. "Told you I'd crash. I'm just glad I had something appropriate to wear. And the food's good."

Elizabeth grinned. "That's how I know it's not a real diplomatic function," she said. "Good food and the fact that no one's had too much to drink and is making an idiot out of himself on the dancefloor."

Parker snickered. "How do they usually make idiots of themselves? Electric Slide, or tango?" She popped a cheesy puff in her mouth. "And are we supposed to be getting trade sanctions from these Danger Room people, or what?"

"I've seen both," said Elizabeth, grinning wryly. "And others that I'm not sure what they're classified as." She shrugged, sipping on a drink. "I'm honestly not sure. I think at the very least we're not supposed to start an intergalactic situations. Which is always easier said than done."

"Cool. I can do that," Parker said confidently. "I've had enough experience with the guys my father hires. This can't be too different."

Elizabeth grinned. "Not so much, no," she admitted. "I've found that intergalactic diplomacy is remarkably similar to the way it works on Earth," she said. "You've just got to be extra careful with customs and the like."

"What was the hardest one you ever ran into?" Parker grabbed a fake drink, and took a sip. "Or the one most likely to get us killed in here?"

"The most frustrating are those who refuse to even acknowledge me because I'm a female," said Elizabeth, rolling her eyes.

Parker looked down at herself, then Liz. "I think I'm insulted on behalf of our gender. Should we have worn an EVA suit to throw them off-track?"

Elizabeth snickered. "I honestly think that they sense females with power coming a mile off," she said. "So you might as well keep your designer clothes on."
