"Sounds fun," Pip said. "You want to know about the ones I know?"

"I got a letter the other day saying that he was sending me something special for a late birthday present," Pip said.

"I think he implied it was more along the lines of boom, boom, go splodey."

"How did your Grandpere come to do business with him? I mean, how does one go about finding a dealer, or how does a dealer find customers?"

"Well, I don't exactly know. Granpere was working with him before I was born. Other people we've worked with we generally find through black market contacts."

"How do you check credentials?"

Pip raised an eyebrow. "Credentials?"

"How does a deal prove they're on the level?"

Pip shrugged. "Well, it's a word of mouth type business. After all, they're basically middle men between people who have possession of large quantities of weaopns and people who want and have the abillity to use large quantities of weapons. It's a bit self-regulating."

"Is there any significant difference ya think, between arms dealers and any other sort of salesman?"

"Well, they tend to be a little more twitchy being that they can get caught and it goes very badly for them. But in the end, salesmen are salesmen. The thing they want the most is for you to buy large quantities of your most expensive item."

Pippi made another note in the little notebook she had open on the table next to her lunch. Which was there the whole time, really.

"More twitchy about being caught... I suppose they all work on commission. Hmm?" she smirked.

"...Maybe? I never really asked. The Russian worked for himself, mostly."

"Do they tend to be very knowable about what they sell, or do you sometimes get the type that just rattle off talking points?"

"Most of them tend to be frighteningly knowledgable about what they sell, unless you're dealing with a flunkies. But flunkies mostly only make delievries of easy to use things."

Pippi rolled all this around in her heat for a moment.

"So if you were going to pose as an arms dealer... What would you do?"

"Dark glasses," Pip said. "That's one thing they all have. And probably some way of throwing people off. Whether it's a boistrous personality or a "just business" cold and calculating personality, they usually have ways of keeping people off their guard."

Pippi nodded and added "dark glasses" and "personality to throw people off balance" to her notes.

"Anything else?" she asked. "...And do they generally travel alone? Or do they have an entourage?"

"Depends. Some do and some don't. It's sort of a personal choice, I guess."

"I'm trying, but I can't think of any more questions just now."

Pip shrugged. "Should be enough. What's this for, exactly?"

"We have to come up with a persona to pretend to be for the Lying workshop." she said. "I could have gone for Navy Officer, but that didn't seem very challenging."

My mun saw an episode of MacGyver where Mac and Pete pose as arms dealers to rescue friends from South American Rebels.

"I was just trying to think of something that would be challenging but I would be able to find information about... And... I saw this cool movie about one."
