Retail 101, Monday morning, the street outside All and Sundries

Apparently Edmund did have a toothache, as he is off to the mainland for a dentist's appointment, leaving his class in the oh, so capable hands of Mr. S.O. Baldrick.

Baldrick, still semi-bathed from two weeks ago, is waiting for them outside the shop. There is a peculiar item pointed across the street toward the school grounds and a pile of turnips stacked neatly next to it.

"'ello class. My name is Baldrick. This," he points to the peculiar item, "is a trebuchet. Mr. Blackadder thought that today would be a good day for you to try to convince people to buy something they didn't think they needed. I'm not very good at it, but Mr. B's off to the dentist."

He mutters something about offering to take care of it himself and pulls out a piece of paper from which he begins to stiltedly read. "Class: today I leave you in Baldrick's in- in- in-CAH-pa-blay hands. Sell turns at the tre-buch-ette to anyone who walks by. There's no price. Start high. Go low if you have to. You're working with Baldrick, you now know low as only an in-ver-te-brate can."

[ooc: This class is open to passers-by because it is taking place on the street outside All and Sundries. Yes, the mun has yet another dental visit and I'm leaving this in Baldrick's capable and oh, so moddable hands. For trebuchet users, All and Sundries is located at 21 Loon Drive. Bear that in mind when aiming the trebuchet. It's also not large enough to fire cows, just turnips, and the shop is far enough down the hill that it should not impact the school/dorms/etc.]

Jaye perks up for a second, then sighs, "Someone did that earlier this year. I have no problem taking credit, but I have the feeling I'd just take the blame if I brought it back into style."

Willow thought about it.

"What if we upgraded the balloon concept? We could make glitter bombs."

Jaye stares at her.

"That is the best idea that anyone in history has ever had."

Willow beamed. "Think there's enough glitter here for us?"

"I've seen like, tubs of it," Jaye says. "We could probably even color coordinate."

"Think they have blue and gold?" Willow asked. Then she looked innocent. "Because it's the school colors, I mean. No other reason at all."

"Probably," Jaye says, kind of happily. "So, how do we make sure they burst on impact? Mixture of a little water and a lot of glitter? Or do you think the glitter itself is enough?"

"I would say start with water mixed in and experiment on the proportions," Willow said. She looked like she was about to bust out her notebook and start writing out formulas. "We're looking for something that we can aim well, and which spreads a lot of glitter on impact."

[ooc: must scurry to work, back in a bit]

"Oooh, yes. Anything that gets more on 'em," Jaye says, happier with this idea by the minute.

"We'll start with water," Willow decided. "Fill up balloons, add glitter, shake, then trebuchet."

She pauses. "Do you think we're supposed to pay for this stuff?"

"I'm sure it counts as class material."

Thinking of whether they could get in trouble for this, she says, "It's a sales aid. I'll be right back."

A moment later she's returning with balloons and a tub of glitter.

"What do you think for the water?" Willow asked. "Bathroom? Um, by which I mean the sink because otherwise a world of ew."

"Ew," Jaye agrees. "I think there might be a hose around somewhere, since Baldrick got washed down. But the bathroom would work."

"Hose would be even better," Willow said. "We wouldn't have to keep running inside."

"Be right back," says Jaye, and really, she's a lot more motivated to do stuff when it means someone will end up wet and covered in glitter.

She returns with the hose from wherever it was found last time. "Tah dah!"

Willow had opened up the balloons and got one ready. "Here we go. I'll hold if you can man the hose?"

Holding the hose over the mouth of the balloon, Jaye says, "Dirty."

"Not on purpose!" Willow assured her. She let the balloon get filled, keeping an eye on the turnips so it could be a comparable size. "Okay. I think we're ready for glitter."

Jaye puts the hose down, picking up the tub of glitter. "How much do you think we should start with?"

"Handful?" Willow guessed.

Jaye frowns, wondering how exactly to get the glitter into the balloon. "Be right back," she says again, and returns a moment later with a funnel. "Yay handful!"

"Is there anything funnels can't help with?" Willow mused aloud.

"See, again, that sounds kinda dirty. I don't know how, but it does," she says, preparing the funnel for a handful of blue glitter.
