Stealth and Deception #5, Wednesday Morning,

After getting another handwaved e-mail to come to the Danger Shop, the students would have found if littered with doors. Lots and lots and lots of doors.

"Good morning class," Alfred said as they entered. "Breakfast and caffeine are over there. Get some, sit down, and we'll talk about infiltration. Now there are many types of alarms and many ways of keeping a person out of a door. But we who are exceptionally sneaky do not worry about such things as locks or alarms, do we?

"As I said before, the types of locks and alarms are limitless. And some of them require some very specialized knowledge and tools to break. Therefore, today we are only going to talk about one, the one with the most useful applications."

Alfred held up a rolled up black cloth and let it unroll, revealing a line of well kept tools.

"Today, class, we're going to talk about lockpicking."

So saying, he went into his lecture

After finishing, he took a sip of tea from a nearby cup and pointed to a table. "On that table are lockpicking sets. These aren't holographs, they're real lockpicking sets I obtained for you, and they are yours to keep.

He gestured to the doors behind him. "Have fun, class. I'll be here if you need any hands on assistance. And don't be afraid to ask."

He glanced down at his notes. "Oh, and will Miss Santos see me after class?"

[[The OCD, she is up, so have fun! I'll be absent for a good part of the day, so forgive me if I don't respond for a while.]]

"Pip's family business is a mercenary company. That's what they're called." she said. "I think Mr. Pennyworth is poking fun at me."

"Ah, and if Brian is the only... wait..." Lana's eyes lit up. "You and Pip...?"

[identity profile] strongestgirl.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"I hope so." Pippi bounced.

Lana squeed a little bit. "Oh, that would be so great! Pip deserves someone special and you certainly are that!"

Cue the doofy smile again.

"Yeah." she said, probably talking about the former rather then the latter point Lana had made.

Lana grinned. "So this Brian guy... is he cute? We could all double date..."

"I don't know actually." Pippi said sheepishly. "I've never seen him. But Pip's mentioned him a couple of times. I don't really know much about him except that he's an exceptional knife fighter... Maybe we could get you a catalogue."

Lana giggled. "Boys R Us," she joked.

"Well, you can check with Pip and let me know. After all, I'll need a partner for my new career as Lana Lang, Girl Detective - has lockpicks, will travel!"

"We could go shanghai Shep from where ever he's got to." Pippi mused.

Lana blushed a little. "Actually, I'm going to see him again this weekend. He's taking me to San Diego."

"Oooooo!" Pippi ooo'ed. "That sounds romantic."

Re: Lockpick

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Lana grinned. "It is. It will be. At least I hope so. My visit to DC a couple of weeks ago to see him certainly was."

She made a little face. "Of course, then he's gone again - maybe for years. So we're not 'dating' again. Just... enjoying each other's company as much as we can, whenever we can."

She didn't mention Shep's unspoken belief that he might never return.

"That's nice." Pippi nodded. "He's one of those military types ya? Must be hard to get in touch with him sometimes huh."

Re: Lockpick

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
Lana nodded. "Yeah. And very hard. He's... stationed really far away. And the whole thing's massively classified, so..."

She shrugged. "I have to get used to not having him around. Move on with my life, find a nice guy, all that good stuff. But this weekend...? For this weekend it's just us and no thinking about the future we don't have."

Pippi wondered if it had something to do with the city on the island in the middle of an ocean he mentioned once.

Ah well.

"Are you gonna pack a... Special bag?"

If Lana had been able to read Pippi's mind she would have told her that her gues was right. But since she couldn't...

Lana giggled and blushed. "I brought the one I made up in Sex Ed when I saw him last time."

Pippi blink and thought about that for a moment.

"... Oh now I remember. I ended up giving the one I made last session to Bel." she said. "Otherwise I'd offer it to you."

She didn't exactly have a use for it then...

Maybe she should put a new one together. Hmmm.

Re: Lockpick

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-08-10 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Lana raised her eyebrows. "Well... now that things have... changed... you might want to put one together for yourself," she teased.

Aaaaaaand then a blush was added to the doofy smile.

Lana just grinned at her.
