Today, the class meets on the beach, to accomadate the student who has a bit of an aquatic problem at the moment. The Doctor set out beach blanket and towels, and has hauled the holoprojector out on a cart.

"Pass forward your requests I asked for, thank you. As I let you know, we're switching things around a bit. Vampires and werewolves will be at a later date. Today is simply 'Close Encounters of the Unattractive Kind'. Now, please remember, that it's not so much that I find these species particularly unpleasant, it's just we might as well show some of the more unsavory aliens out in the world. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. I'll be taking questions today, but no lecturing today. It's called close encounters for a reason. You'll be talking to the projections, trying to gather what you can from them. Ask them whatever. Remember they can't actually hurt you, but please only antagonize them if you're being terribly clever about it. There is no assignment for next week. Time for you all to put on your 'first contact' thinking caps. The projector will be sending out three different aliens. Talk to at least one, please."

The Doctor smiled, then turned on the projector. Three forms appeared...

"My craft is equipped with sensors to scan for known dangerous elements," Styre said. "And my suit, when the helmet is on, can filter out almost all vapors that would attempt to harm me."

"That sounds very helpful." He nods and then asks, "Have you ever run into something that you could not identify?"

"Most species of unexplored planets are unidentifiable," Styre said. "However they are quickly captured, analyzed and tested in order to be able to identify them on subsequent missions."

"So, you people are scientists?"

"It is my duty to do scientific study, in order to determine a planet's suitability for conquering," Styre said. "We are a military race."

"Conquering?" Cedric frowns and shakes his head. "Everyone wants to conquer something. What they have is not enough."

"It will not be enough until all of the galaxy is under flag of the Sontaran Empire," Styre said, clenching a fist.

"What makes you think everyone wants to be under the Sontaran Empire?" Cedric asks. "And that people won't fight you?"

"We conquer," Styre said. "We do not care for the opinions of lesser species. They are welcome to try and fight. We are meant for battle."

"There's always someone who resists," Cedric tells him. "Your ego will be your downfall."

"Are you insinuating that I have a large head?" Styre asked, looking stern.

"I wasn't but now that you mention, it is a rather large head," Cedric says, staring. "That will be your downfall too."

"You speak large words for a small man," Styre said. "I admire your bravado."

"Well, thank you," Cedric says, nodding. "I hope you learn other ways to explore besides conquering. I should go."

"Perhaps I overestimated your bravery," Styre said. "Go, human."
