Constant Vigilance #4: Friday the 3rd, Morning. Serenity Cove.

Today, the class meets on the beach, to accomadate the student who has a bit of an aquatic problem at the moment. The Doctor set out beach blanket and towels, and has hauled the holoprojector out on a cart.

"Pass forward your requests I asked for, thank you. As I let you know, we're switching things around a bit. Vampires and werewolves will be at a later date. Today is simply 'Close Encounters of the Unattractive Kind'. Now, please remember, that it's not so much that I find these species particularly unpleasant, it's just we might as well show some of the more unsavory aliens out in the world. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. I'll be taking questions today, but no lecturing today. It's called close encounters for a reason. You'll be talking to the projections, trying to gather what you can from them. Ask them whatever. Remember they can't actually hurt you, but please only antagonize them if you're being terribly clever about it. There is no assignment for next week. Time for you all to put on your 'first contact' thinking caps. The projector will be sending out three different aliens. Talk to at least one, please."

The Doctor smiled, then turned on the projector. Three forms appeared...

[ooc: OCD is up. Have at me!]

"I think someone has insecurity issues."

"I believe someone has outlasted their ability to amuse me with their words," Styre said. He pulled a box from his suit and pressed a button.

Nothing happened.

"Where is my robot? He should be capturing you now."

"Boy, I bet it'd be nice to have a friend right about now, huh?" Willow said, folding her arms smugly.

Styre frowned.

"It is a minor inconvenience," he said. "I would shoot you but tests need to be conducted."

"See? Again with usuing violence to solve your problems," Willow said. "I get that being at war makes you edgy, but I grew up on a hellmouth and I still find ways to enjoy myself that don't involve me being all 'Kill, kill, conquer, arrgh'."

[ooc: off to the doc's!]

"This is why your species is so ripe for conquering," Styre attempted to retort. "You settle for lesser things."

"Ever hear the fable about the sour grapes?"

"I do not see how fruit is somehow prevalant to the situation," Styre said.

"I'm just saying if you could enjoy those things, you would," Willow said. "But since you decided to be Mr. Grumpy and can't, you're going to pretend you don't want it anyway. You know, I've been hurt too, and it's hard to trust people after that but if you give it a chance you might be surprised. I know I was."

Styre merely blinked at Willow. He didn't have a witty retort, and he couldn't kill her.

He seemed out of options. Except the standby Sontaran tactic.

He licked his lips with his slimy red tongue.

"Now we're back on harassment again," Willow said. "That's it, I'm done. If you change your mind about wanting to try to make friends, I'll be around. But not if you're going to be rude about it. I know you're hurt, but I refuse to enable your unhealthy social habits."

Willow turned to go.
