Today, the class meets on the beach, to accomadate the student who has a bit of an aquatic problem at the moment. The Doctor set out beach blanket and towels, and has hauled the holoprojector out on a cart.

"Pass forward your requests I asked for, thank you. As I let you know, we're switching things around a bit. Vampires and werewolves will be at a later date. Today is simply 'Close Encounters of the Unattractive Kind'. Now, please remember, that it's not so much that I find these species particularly unpleasant, it's just we might as well show some of the more unsavory aliens out in the world. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. I'll be taking questions today, but no lecturing today. It's called close encounters for a reason. You'll be talking to the projections, trying to gather what you can from them. Ask them whatever. Remember they can't actually hurt you, but please only antagonize them if you're being terribly clever about it. There is no assignment for next week. Time for you all to put on your 'first contact' thinking caps. The projector will be sending out three different aliens. Talk to at least one, please."

The Doctor smiled, then turned on the projector. Three forms appeared...

"We do," it replied. "With some very strict forms of punishment for those who do wrong."

"Could you give me an example?"

"My race is vulnerable to acetic acid," it replied. "Our highest form of punishment involves lowering of the condemned into a cauldron of acetic acid, which is then heated to boiling. The acidity of the solution is formulated to dissolve the skin, allowing the internal organs to drop into the liquid while the condemned is still alive, reducing them to a 'soup'."

Nadia's jaw dropped open and she stared at the thing. "That's horrible!"

"However, most of our population would not even dream of committing a crime that is punishable by such," it said, nodding.

"But some people still do?!" Nadia looked apalled. "That's insane!"

"The Slitheen are a wretched bunch," the Raxacoricofallapatorian conceded. "I believe they deserve mercy, but it would be difficult to contain them, otherwise."

"The Slitheen? Is that what you call your criminals?"

"It is a family of criminals," the creature said. "They made an attempt to destroy this world, once."

Nadia winced. "So they got boiled?"

"Those that are captured, yes," the creature said. "Your teacher would have a first hand account of the events that transpired here."

"Really. I'll have to ask him about that."

The creature simply nodded and smiled.

"Thank you for talking with me."

The smile widened. "Thank you for talking with me, as well."
