Wilderness Survival Redux - Week 4 | Thursday Morning, A Clearing in the Woods

The clearing was set up with a number of targets down one end and a table with a number of weapons laid out on it down the other.

"Since take-out stores don't grow on trees, it's likely that stranded in the wild, you'll need to catch your own food," Callisto said. "This is a selection of the kind of weapons to might be able to make and use to accomplish that."

After giving a brief demonstration of each weapon, Callisto continued. "I want you to spend the rest of the class examining these and yes, you can try them out. But do anything stupid, anything at all, and not only will you be spending the rest of the term in detention, you'll wish I'd used these on you."

Walter would be gleeing at the opportunity to play with weapons if it weren't so bloody hot.

So he's gleeing, in a subdued, sweaty manner.

Anders eyed Walter tiredly. "Stop looking so cheerful. It's too hot to be cheerful." If it came out sounding slightly grumpy, Anders didn't mean for it to; it was meant to be friendly teasing, but insane heat plus lack of a whole lot of sleep was draining some of the levity from his tone.

"I went swimming with a mermaid, have things somehow worked out with my girlfriend, and we get to play with new things that can kill people. How could I not be in a cheerful mood?" Walter asked, completely unabashed, despite the heat.

"I'd be cheerful if I had the frakking energy left," Anders said. "Hey, you guys got things worked out? That's great to hear, man."

It was the part about playing with killy things that kind of worried him, but in light of the fact that, well, Walter was cheerful about killy things, Anders wasn't mentioning it.

Walter might just have an unhealthy enjoyment of killy things. Best not to point that out to him.

"Yeah, we did," Walter said, smiling not quite doofily. "Why don't you have any energy? The heat's horrible, true."

Well, he might've expended all his energy last night, but yeah, so not mentioning that. "Didn't get much sleep, that's all. Too hot and sticky."

Aww. Lookit the almost-doofy smile.

"I have a pre-cooled pet, that helps." Because Walter was sleeping snuggled with Pup because Pup was cool. Yes. Really.

"I wonder if I could get Al to make ice? He always says it's not magic, but I haven't seen him prove that yet."

"Yeah, it's not like I haven't thought about sleeping with my head in the mini-fridge or something like that myself," Anders admitted, envying Walter's pre-cooled pet for once. Not that he'd, you know, been in a position (so to speak) to actually do that lately.

"He's made more complicated things, right? It's all magic to me, really, but ice should be pretty simple."

"Oh!" Walter brushed sweaty hair out of his face and perked up. "Maybe just the water in the pool down in the basement!" That would make the pool room really cool and we could camp out there while it melts."

"That? Is an awesome idea, man," Anders said, perking up himself. "Maybe I could go skating on it first, too . . ."

[OOC: Off for lunch -- back in 40 or so.]

"I'll have to hunt for Al and see if he'll do it. If he will, we should definitely do it tonight."

"Sign me up, man. I'm totally there."

"Brilliant!" ~~And with minty fresh admin okay.~~ "I'll grab Al as soon as I see him."

~~Mmm, hygienic and kosher, and now with proper coding.~~ "Sounds good to me," Anders said with a yawn and a nod. "I'm gonna take a quick nap after my next workshop, so I'll be around."

"I'll give you a call if I can wrestle Al into cooperating," Walter said, his expression indicating who he though would win that wrestling match. "Until then, I'm going to go play with weapons. I'll see you later, Anders."

Anders looked kind of tired this morning, and almost sorry to not have to surrender his clothes for this class, because it was seriously hot out.

On the other hand, that might have been a bad idea anyway, the clothes-surrendering.

He wasn't talking during the lecture, but he was a bit distracted. Okay, a lot distracted.

D was just kinda happy to have her clothes this week, so she wasn't talking unless someone spoke to her first.
