Archery Workshop #4, 8/1, Danger Shop, Afternoon

The setup should be starting to look kind of familiar to the students by now. Grass, sun, bows, arrows, targets. However, this week, the targets were somewhat smaller than they were the week before. Not absurdly small, just smaller.

Miho was sitting in a lounge chair under a shade umbrella, where she could watch over her students, hopefully without getting shot. The sign-in sheet was on a card table next to Miho's chair, along with a plate of doughnuts and a pitcher of somewhat sour lemonade with a stack of plastic cups.

On the portable blackboard was this message to the students: Shoot things. Not each other. Good luck.

The Danger Shop seemed to be behaving today. This was possibly due to Miho's threatening it with balloons filled with chocolate syrup, but the students had no way of knowing this.

Gwynn was really starting to miss Tim, so shooting things seemed like good therapy.

Smaller targets. That was useful. Eventually, Peter became very comfortable with failing to hit the targets by inches. Of course, just as soon as that happened, he started hitting the target. Wasn't that always the luck?

"Hi, Miho," Peter said, holding a cup of lemonade. "I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that there's no robots, or dragons, or renegade aardvarks or anything this week. That kind of thing added a touch of whimsy to the workshop that I'm just not feeling now, and I think it's affecting both my performance and the overall mood of the day."

Gwynn might have been staring at Peter in shock as she listened to his speech to Miho.

Peter gave Gwynn a smile. This kind of thing added a little bit of extra fun to the afternoon.

Gwynn smiled back and might have come slightly closer to watch this.

Peter took a step back just in case he needed it. "I'm just giving you a general compliment. I find this workshop both entertaining and useful, but there's just something missing today, and it's not my blood or anything, just in case you were about to say that."

"Thank you," Peter said. "And I hope your day is just as happy as mine is right now."
