The computer lab is meeting outside today under a tent with Help Desk emblazoned across the front. Each student has their own workstation complete with phone, toolbox and nifty pocket protector.

"As you can see by my mad sign making skillz, we're going to be manning the help desk today." Abby smiled. "As geeks there is a 99.9% chance that someone is going to ask you to fix their computer. Seriously guys, it's going to happen. You need to know your stuff. Not only how to fix technology...but how to deal with people who don't know how to use it."

"Three rules you have to remember." Abby paced and raised her fingers as she counted them off. "One, not everyone is a geek so remember to tone down the techspeak. Two, people will do incredibly stupid things to their computer, try not to cry over the phone when they tell they've never done a virus scan. Three, the first response is always reboot. It doesn't matter that the problem couldn't be solved by that, it's always the first response."

"Okay, the phone lines are open and people can walk in with a problem. Remember the rules, be polite and come to me if there's a problem you can't fix."

Bridge picks up the phone.

"Thank you for calling, one of our trained technicians will be with you shortly. Please hold."

Elliot scoffed. "Oh sure, of course, I always get put on hold," she said. "I'll wait."

A minute or so of annoying music plays before Bridge picks up the phone.

"Your call is very important to us. Please hold."

And the annoying music is back.

Elliot sighed and tapped her nails against the phone.

Eventually, she was tapping in time to the music.

"Okay, thank you for holding, how can I help you?"

"Danger shop," Elliot said. "This is Elliot Reid. It wouldn't do anything for me during class yesterday. Zilch. And I hit every button, like, a thousand times."

"Okay, that does sound serious. Can you be more specific?" Bridge asks.

Elliot flailed, audibly. "I used to be able to program it," she explained. "Well, mostly. But yesterday morning the prompts came up and I tried telling it what I wanted, and it just ignored me."

She sounded curious. "Do you think it might have been in a bad mood?"

"Have you tried telling it how much you appreciate it, lately?" Bridge asks. "Sometimes things get cranky if they don't think anyone appreciates them."

"It's a machine," Elliot pointed out. "Do you think it'd work?"

"Machines have feelings too. I should know- my dog's a robot." Bridge says. "It's definitely worth a try."

"Thanks," Elliot said, only sounding slightly weirded out. "I'll let you know if it works."
