Arts & Crafts Workshop #3, Camp Dining Hall, 07.24.06, Afternoon
"Hello, campers! This week we will be knitting!" Tick said once everyone was around. "This isn't knitting just for the sake of knitting, though. Nay, chums! We're knitting because of a cause brought to my attention by Hermione Granger here!"
Where she comes from, there seem to be a race of house elves enslaved by the school. The only way they can be free is to be given clothes. And so we're going to be knitting hats. If you choose not to participate in the actual protest part of the class for your own reasons, that's fine. You can keep any hats you make and do what you want with them: sell them, give them away, or light them on fire in a safe manner after filing the proper permits. The patterns I've provided are nice and simple so you can make as many as you can or want. Feel free to improvise, though. On the calendar of creativity, improvisation is the weekend; it's filled with a much stuff as you can work into it before it's over!"
"You each have several colors of yarn, needles, and your own wits! Use these tools well!"
"If you would like any hats to go to Hogwarts, please put them in this box at the front for shipping overseas! Thank you all for whatever help you can give!"
"For your scrapbooks this week, we'll be focusing on the memories of each other in this workshop. More specifically, we'll be generating more of those memories! Open your scrapbook to a blank page. That page will be for the other students here to work on. They can add text, pictures, whatever they think will help you remember them or this workshop. You don't have to add to everyone's, but you should add something to at least one person's book."
