"Hello!" Jarod waved to the gathered students. The bandage was gone from his head, but the stitches were still visible. "Today we'll be learning about how to keep a secret, and I mean a real secret here, one that someone's life is depending on, by telling the truth."

"The kicker here is that someone will be asking you questions, trying to find out what the secret is. It's your job to answer their questions as completely as possible, but to still keep that secret. Then you'll switch. You'll each pick a secret of your own, and write it down on a piece of paper before you start. Then, your partner will write down what they think the secret is when they're finished, and show it to you. I'm trusting you to tell them if they got it right."

"Also, please feel free to have some coffee, juice, fruit, and bagels," he gestured at the table behind him.

Elizabeth grinned. "Yeah, it's my own for not knowing better than to eat her cooking," she said, winking. She nodded, blushing slightly. "All sorted out."

"Okay, excellent." Jack grinned hugely at her. "So, want to try and guess my secret?"

"Okay, let's see," said Elizabeth, nodding; her cheeks still tinged slightly pink. "Hmm, underneath your playboy exterior all you really want to do is settle down and get married and have a family?" she laughed, winking at him.

Jack dramatically clutched a hand to his chest. "That's it! You've uncovered my secret dream!" he proclaimed. "How ever will I go on?" Laughing, he shook his head. "Except not quite."

Elizabeth giggled. "Okay, is your secret to do with you and you alone?" she asked.

"Now, really, what are the chances of anything to do with me not involving at least one other person?" He smiled innocently. "So I'm going to go with no on that one."

Elizabeth grinned. "Pretty small, but I thought I'd better check anyway. Does it involve one or more other persons?"

"Okay, so it's about you and several other people from when you weren't in Fandom?" said Elizabeth.

Eyes twinkling, he nodded. "You're on exactly the right track."

"Mm, is it sexual in nature?" she asked, still grinning.

"Eventually, but it didn't start out that way." Winking, he added, "I was pretty sure it was going to, though."

Elizabeth laughted. "Did they start out in a position of power over you?"

"I have to say yes, they did. They definitely held the upper hand." He couldn't hold back a snicker, but he quickly got it under control. "Again, I didn't know it, though."

"Why didn't you know that?" asked Elizabeth, tilting her head curiously.

"Because they didn't tell me?" he offered, being a smart ass. "Because there was no way that I could tell they had the upper hand when we started. I didn't figure it out until about halfway through."

"Not who they were. And not entirely."

"Who they represented?" asked Elizabeth, frowning slightly.

"No, they didn't represent anyone. It was a purely personal affair. Recreational, even. Though there were reasonably high stakes." And he snickered again.
