Summer Picnic, Main Campfire, Friday afternoon

At lunchtime, the campfire area was set up with blankets, baskets, picnic tables, food, and ant problems. The groundskeeper who brought the ants was later sent home for the rest of the day. It turned out that he didn't really like picnics.

[OOC: I suck and completely forgot about this. Sorry about the relative lateness. It's a sunny and fairly comfortable day. I MOD WEATHER! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!]

River gave him a mischievous look. "Is that an invitation?" She looked around, pretending to search for mud.

"I don't know Draco, but he's that blonde boy, isn't he? He couldn't come up with any objections?"

No mind reading, she told herself. No mind reading.

"Blonde, English," Tyler agreed. "And he objected, but I argued past his objections. Besides, he talked me into making him minster of magic."

A mischievous smile tugged at his mouth. "Looking for something?"

"Ants," she said, letting a couple of them crawl on to her hand. "Want one?"

"What's a minister of magic? Oh, and why don't you try and argue your way past my objections?"

"I can do without the bugs, thanks," Tyler said. "And I don't know. Draco said it was like the president."

He gave a flirtatious smile. "Okay, let's say I want ... you to go into the woods with me and kiss. A lot."

River looked at the ants crawling over the palm of her hand. She frowned and licked them off. Then she gave him a mock thoughtful look. "Hm. Ok!" A grin spread on her face.

"You're supposed to object," Tyler reminded her. "And did you just eat the ants?"

"Yes," River said. "They're crispy. I think you could deep fry them."

"Ok. No I can't go into the woods and kiss you because the squirrels could see us."

Tyler shrugged off the ants thing, though he would never eat them himself.

Well, almost shrugged it off. "But they're alive."

"Squirrels the animals or squirrels the people in the cabin?" he asked. "The animals don't care, and the people probably have better things to do than spy on us. I hope."

"They die when I swallow them." It was probably an acquired taste.

She whispered loudly: "The animal squirrels do care. They are here to spy on us."

Tyler thought about it and decided he didn't want to know about the ant thing. "Who are they spying for?" he wanted to know. "Maybe if they saw us kissing and reported back about that, we could distract them from ... something else. We'd be heroes."

"Unless they're here to spy on who's kissing who. Are we really willing to take that risk?" She used a voice that made it sound like it would be a very big risk indeed.

"It depends," Tyler said. "Sometimes thinsg are worth the risk." His hand was sliding up her back, and he lowered his voice and leaned in very close. "We could find a place where the squirrels can't see us."

River found it hard to argue against something she really wanted to do and found little real reason not to. Still she made one last attempt. "But squirrels are very small and have hidden secret passages that..." she trailed off. "You win." Judging by the grin on her face she didn't mind losing that much.

Tyler took her by the hand and helped her up. "Come on. Let's go find a place where we'll be safe from squirrels and can do ... stuff."

Naturally River thought that was a great suggestion. "Perhaps I can insult the squirrels and scare them off," she said with a grin, reaching out to kiss him.

((ooc: Have them wake up in the woods unable to speak?))

"It doesn't surprise me you speak squirrel," Tyler told River. He started to play with her hair as they walked toward the woods.

"Pippi taught me," she said, finishing her food while she walked, glancing up at Tyler happily.
