Jarod stood in front of the class, a little more nervous about teaching this particular subject. He handed out the syllabus, then some informational sheets, worksheets, and #2 pencils. "Good afternoon. I'm Jarod, and I'll be your instructor for the next seven weeks. Hopefully the class will be both fun and educational for everyone. In our first class, we'll be looking at who you are: If you're looking to play a role, you have to know yourself, to know which roles are best for you. If you're looking to catch a conman, you have to know how to get inside their head, which is generally called profiling and will be something that you'll have to get into with a different teacher."

"So, today, you'll be taking a personality profile. Once you have those results, check out
this guide of career choices based on that profile. It'll be easier for you to play a part if it's natural to you. If you're looking for a conman, it'll be easier to predict which careers he or she might gravitate towards."

"Have fun, and ask me any questions, but today's just a way to get started."

Week 1: Choosing a Role: Know yourself, and learn what you can and can't pull off convincingly

Week 2: Learning the Lingo: Every profession has its own jargon. Class will be held in the Library.

Week 3: Lying without Lying: How to tell the truth. Just slightly shaded.

Week 4: The Bluff: Oops. You're clueless and stuck. Now what?

Week 5: Finding Confederates: Which friends do you want or need to make to help you?

Week 6: Dressing the Part: What you wear can support the lie and inspire trust. Class will hopefully be held at Stuff for Sale.

Week 7: Knowing When to Get Out: Someone's always on your tail or about to catch on. Learn the signals and how to trust your instincts.

Week 8: ~~The Pretend~~ Putting it all Together: See how you do. Class will hopefully be held in the Danger Shop.

"So I hear," she says. "Shirtlessness as therapy. Remind me to thank Cedric for that."

Jack grin wandered into smirk territory, but his voice was perfectly innocent. "Next time I see him I'll do that. Just for you."

"I'm sure you will," she says, and just as innocently, says, "So, uh, you missed Fourth of July. We were deprived of Jack kissy, you know."

"I know," Jack hung his head, looking extremely contrite. "Tell me how I can make it up to you."

Jaye opens her mouth- and remembers she's in class. "I might have to think about it," she says. "This may call for a private performance."

Tongue sneaking out to touch his top lip, he smiled down at her. "Name the time and place, Jaye, and I'll be there."

"Cabins aren't very good for privacy," she says, because she has learned this from experience more than once. "But sometimes the dorms just really need to be revisited."

"They do - it's so easy to forget their essential features," he agreed. "That's place - any definite plans as to when?"

"Any plans tomorrow?" she asks. Completely innocently, of course.

"Not at this stage, I don't. You want to book me for a private performance?"

"Beck and call, right?" she says.

"Beck and call," he agreed. "Meet you up at the dorms tomorrow night? Your room or mine?"

"You haven't seen my room yet," she shrugs. "Could always give you the tour."

"Now that sounds like a plan. All we're missing now is a time."

"Seven good?"

"I hate to do this to you, seeing as I'm at your beck and call, but can we set the call later. Say ten?"

She pretends to eyeroll, but grins. "Sounds like a plan."

"I solemnly swear I'll make it up to you," he promised. "Think I'm allowed to kiss you in this workshop, just to seal the deal?"

"They might look down on that," she says, not that she cares.

Jack looked around, didn't see Jarod, and shrugged. "What the hell." And he kissed her, lingering for just a moment.

"That totally would have been worth detention," she smiles when he pulls away.

"Damn, I didn't think of that. And we would have been there together, too," he laughed. "I could find Jarod and we could try again?"

She still doesn't see him. "Maybe aim for next week."
