Jarod stood in front of the class, a little more nervous about teaching this particular subject. He handed out the syllabus, then some informational sheets, worksheets, and #2 pencils. "Good afternoon. I'm Jarod, and I'll be your instructor for the next seven weeks. Hopefully the class will be both fun and educational for everyone. In our first class, we'll be looking at who you are: If you're looking to play a role, you have to know yourself, to know which roles are best for you. If you're looking to catch a conman, you have to know how to get inside their head, which is generally called profiling and will be something that you'll have to get into with a different teacher."

"So, today, you'll be taking a personality profile. Once you have those results, check out
this guide of career choices based on that profile. It'll be easier for you to play a part if it's natural to you. If you're looking for a conman, it'll be easier to predict which careers he or she might gravitate towards."

"Have fun, and ask me any questions, but today's just a way to get started."

Week 1: Choosing a Role: Know yourself, and learn what you can and can't pull off convincingly

Week 2: Learning the Lingo: Every profession has its own jargon. Class will be held in the Library.

Week 3: Lying without Lying: How to tell the truth. Just slightly shaded.

Week 4: The Bluff: Oops. You're clueless and stuck. Now what?

Week 5: Finding Confederates: Which friends do you want or need to make to help you?

Week 6: Dressing the Part: What you wear can support the lie and inspire trust. Class will hopefully be held at Stuff for Sale.

Week 7: Knowing When to Get Out: Someone's always on your tail or about to catch on. Learn the signals and how to trust your instincts.

Week 8: ~~The Pretend~~ Putting it all Together: See how you do. Class will hopefully be held in the Danger Shop.

Parker grumbled in response, then added, "Have fun? Aside from pointing out there's no ministers or justices of the peace on the island, I mean."

"It was definitely an experience," he grinned at her, "but I think I made Jaye's head hurt. What did you think?"

"I think anything that makes Jaye's head hurt is good for her." She smirked. "And you were damn amusing. But I'm biased."

"I know." He grinned at her. "You know you have nothing to worry about, right? Jaye's a friend. Like Jack."

Okay, maybe not exactly like Jack.

"Yesss, I know," Parker conceded. Reluctantly. From where she was standing, Jaye was a little *too* like Jack for comfort. But that's not an observation she can make aloud, since it is completely off-base. "How did she talk you into that, anyway? Just grab your arm on the street and say, 'hi, you're doing radio with me?'"

"More or less," Jarod admitted. "It was something I'd been wanting to do anyway."

"Really." Parker cocked an eyebrow at him. "You want to be the next Rick Dees? Wait, I know you don't know who that is. You see a future for yourself in Talk Radio?"

"No, but it was something I hadn't done, so it was on the list." He grinned at her.

"There's a list?" Parker covered her eyes. "Oh, of course there's a list. Dare I ask what's next on the list?"

More smirking. "You really don't want to know."

Parker shuddered. Then leaned in and gave him a kiss. "Great class, you dork. And just tell me how much bail money I'll need to bring to the next thing."

"That's up to you," he kissed her back quickly. "And thanks."
