Lying and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, Class #1, Monday Afternoon, Park

Jarod stood in front of the class, a little more nervous about teaching this particular subject. He handed out the syllabus, then some informational sheets, worksheets, and #2 pencils. "Good afternoon. I'm Jarod, and I'll be your instructor for the next seven weeks. Hopefully the class will be both fun and educational for everyone. In our first class, we'll be looking at who you are: If you're looking to play a role, you have to know yourself, to know which roles are best for you. If you're looking to catch a conman, you have to know how to get inside their head, which is generally called profiling and will be something that you'll have to get into with a different teacher."

"So, today, you'll be taking a personality profile. Once you have those results, check out
this guide of career choices based on that profile. It'll be easier for you to play a part if it's natural to you. If you're looking for a conman, it'll be easier to predict which careers he or she might gravitate towards."

"Have fun, and ask me any questions, but today's just a way to get started."

[ooc: Same as before, no Jarod interaction until tomorrow after 6 pm.]

"And I'm cut to the quick, Cameron my love. You don't like me? I think my heart might be broken beyond repair." Jack pressed a hand over his heart, feigning dejection.

"I'd almost feel sorry," Cameron said seriously. "Too bad that just like the rest of you, it's all fake. This workshop should suit you really well. I'm sure you'll ace it."

"You have no idea, Mitchell. No idea at all." Jack smirked, but his eyes were hard. "Plenty of people know I'm not a fake. Sam Carter for one. Molly for another."

Cameron's gaze matched Jack's, all traces of even pretending to be civil gone now as he leaned forward. "Yeah well, you better live up to whatever pretty lie you told them then," he warned softly. "You disappoint them and I'll make your life miserable. Got that?"

"If you think either of them would believe a pretty lie, even for a second, you have no idea who they are." Jack bared his teeth in something that might have passed for a smile. "They're both more than capable of looking after themselves, and I doubt they'd thank you for sticking your nose in."

"I'm very aware of that," Cameron said, leaning back in his chair and trying to look relaxed. Trying anyway, because the idea of Molly having something with Jack that he might 'stick his nose in' didn't sit easy with him. "I honestly don't know how you do it, how you can make people want to believe the best about you. Whatever. You'll trip yourself up sooner or later."

Jack matched his pose, deliberately forcing himself to relax, muscle by muscle. "You and I actually agree on something - I don't know how that happens either. And you're right, I probably will screw up." He experimented with a smile, but it held very little warmth. "But it won't be because I didn't try and get it right."

Cameron remained quiet as he studied Jack. He knew screwing up a little bit too well. "It better not," he relented even if his voice remained hard and it was as much ground as he was going to give Jack right now.

Jack's smile disappeared and his eyes narrowed. "Threatening me's not going to make any difference. You're just wasting your breath." Taking one deep breath, he relaxed again, grinning slightly. "But if it makes you feel better, go for it. And I won't say anything to Sam about you playing knight errant on her behalf."

Cameron shook his head and picked up his pen, pretending to go back to his own personality test even if he had already filled it out. "I don't give a damn what you tell Sam and Molly. I meant what I said, I don't see why I'd have to hide that."

Jack shrugged and turned back to his own test, twirling a pen between his fingers. "You really need to find a sense of humour, Mitchell. With an attitude like that, you're going to need it."

"Different tastes," was all that Cameron muttered, deciding it was better not to get into that particular argument.
