Jarod stood in front of the class, a little more nervous about teaching this particular subject. He handed out the syllabus, then some informational sheets, worksheets, and #2 pencils. "Good afternoon. I'm Jarod, and I'll be your instructor for the next seven weeks. Hopefully the class will be both fun and educational for everyone. In our first class, we'll be looking at who you are: If you're looking to play a role, you have to know yourself, to know which roles are best for you. If you're looking to catch a conman, you have to know how to get inside their head, which is generally called profiling and will be something that you'll have to get into with a different teacher."

"So, today, you'll be taking a personality profile. Once you have those results, check out
this guide of career choices based on that profile. It'll be easier for you to play a part if it's natural to you. If you're looking for a conman, it'll be easier to predict which careers he or she might gravitate towards."

"Have fun, and ask me any questions, but today's just a way to get started."

Week 1: Choosing a Role: Know yourself, and learn what you can and can't pull off convincingly

Week 2: Learning the Lingo: Every profession has its own jargon. Class will be held in the Library.

Week 3: Lying without Lying: How to tell the truth. Just slightly shaded.

Week 4: The Bluff: Oops. You're clueless and stuck. Now what?

Week 5: Finding Confederates: Which friends do you want or need to make to help you?

Week 6: Dressing the Part: What you wear can support the lie and inspire trust. Class will hopefully be held at Stuff for Sale.

Week 7: Knowing When to Get Out: Someone's always on your tail or about to catch on. Learn the signals and how to trust your instincts.

Week 8: ~~The Pretend~~ Putting it all Together: See how you do. Class will hopefully be held in the Danger Shop.

"I'm pretty sure they use a computer of some kind. Or at least an abacus," he laughed. "I'm incredibly disappointed that you have a boyfriend, but intrigued by the World War two thing. Would I know him?"

"Yeah, I'm getting the disappointed part a lot, lately. Which is dumb, because I was single all last semester. You might know him, Walter Dornez?"

"In my defence, I don't remember that. Hard to imagine I wouldn't have done my best to lure you out on a date. But I know Walter - he was my partner for the first Sex Ed class. Nice guy, very cute."

"Hell yes. And to be honest, I might not have noticed if you did. I kind of spent most of my time chasing him."

"I can understand that - I'd be tempted to chase him if I didn't know he was taken." Jack waggled his eyebrows at her. "Two disappointments in one day - how ever will I survive?"

"Well. . . ." Nadia paused. "I do know one hot girl who probably wouldn't mind being chased after, a bit."

"Details, please? It's the least you can do after inflicting a double heart-break."

"Veruca Cally. Known just as Cally. She broke up with her boyfriend, and, well, she's been dealing with some heart-break, too." Nadia thought again. "I don't know if she'd be open for something right away, but she could definitely use someone chasing after her, for once."

"Cally?" Jack's jaw just about dropped in surprise. "Cally broke up with her other half? I'd heard a rumour, but I didn't give it much credit. Last time I talked to her, she was ear-deep in partnered bliss."

"Oh yeah. Broken as broken could be. She's . . . having a tough time, lately."

"Damn, that's really too bad. She seemed so happy. I'll definitely drop in on her - see if she needs a shoulder, or anything else." Jack smirked, but more from habit than intent.

Nadia smiled back. "Great. I'm sure she'll appreciate it."
