Jarod stood in front of the class, a little more nervous about teaching this particular subject. He handed out the syllabus, then some informational sheets, worksheets, and #2 pencils. "Good afternoon. I'm Jarod, and I'll be your instructor for the next seven weeks. Hopefully the class will be both fun and educational for everyone. In our first class, we'll be looking at who you are: If you're looking to play a role, you have to know yourself, to know which roles are best for you. If you're looking to catch a conman, you have to know how to get inside their head, which is generally called profiling and will be something that you'll have to get into with a different teacher."

"So, today, you'll be taking a personality profile. Once you have those results, check out
this guide of career choices based on that profile. It'll be easier for you to play a part if it's natural to you. If you're looking for a conman, it'll be easier to predict which careers he or she might gravitate towards."

"Have fun, and ask me any questions, but today's just a way to get started."

Syllabus:

Week 1: Choosing a Role: Know yourself, and learn what you can and can't pull off convincingly

Week 2: Learning the Lingo: Every profession has its own jargon. Class will be held in the Library.

Week 3: Lying without Lying: How to tell the truth. Just slightly shaded.

Week 4: The Bluff: Oops. You're clueless and stuck. Now what?

Week 5: Finding Confederates: Which friends do you want or need to make to help you?

Week 6: Dressing the Part: What you wear can support the lie and inspire trust. Class will hopefully be held at Stuff for Sale.

Week 7: Knowing When to Get Out: Someone's always on your tail or about to catch on. Learn the signals and how to trust your instincts.

Week 8: ~~The Pretend~~ Putting it all Together: See how you do. Class will hopefully be held in the Danger Shop.

Jaye waves. "Hi. I'm Jaye. And I ~~would like to know how to effectively lie my way through the next year~~ ~~would like to better learn how to hide the potential psychosis~~ think it would be a useful skill."

"I'm Sawyer. That's not my real name though, that's my confidence man name. My real name is James Ford. I'm a real life conman." Shrugging.

"I thought the point of being a con man, was that nobody knows it until its too late?"

"Well, I'm not a conman here, duh." Shaking his head and rolling his eyes. "And I only con rich women with stupid or dead husbands."

"Good think I don't have a stupid or dead husband." she mused. "Still, seems counter productive to announce not only that you are a conman, but what your real and assumed names are."

Sawyer shrugged. "I decided when I came here that I'd change my life. Which meant: no conning." He nodded and stuck his tongue out at Pancake Girl.

"So if you're not conning any more why announce that you're a con man and take this class?" she retorted sticking her tongue out at Waffle Boy.

He squinted at her. "Stop asking me questions." Squinting his eyes more when she stuck her tongue out at him. "Or I'll use my mindtricks that I learned conning on you." Making a face at her.

Pippi grinned back at him good naturedly. (Which is totally a word.)

"Oh look at me I'm shaking in my boots!"

"You beter be, little girl." Grinning as he took a seat behind her. He was totally kidding, ofcourse but just because he wasn't actively conning didn't mean he didn't want to have fun with it.

"I'm Parker. I'm hoping to be able to spot liars and con artists," she shot Jarod a snarky glance, and cocked and eyebrow at him, "and maybe be able to put forward the kind of image I want, in different situations."

"Hey. I'm Draco. I've lied before and I'm probably going to do it again so I figure I might as well be good at it."

"Yo. I'm Cam. I signed up because I want to be able to tell when people are lying to me. However, I'm also aware that in my future career I'll have to end up keeping secrets and I want to get better at that."

"I'm Nadia, and I think the ability to lie realistically and catch other people in lies at the same time is a very, very useful skill to have for just about anything, but especially what I think I want to do for the rest of my life."

"I'm Tyler," Tyler said, and wondered if that counted as his first lie. "I'm here because I like knowing when people aren't telling me the truth."

"I'm Briar and I'm here because I think lying is a very useful skill to have."

"I'm Jack. And I hope to ~~learn to be a conman, since it's my destiny~~ get everything I can out of this class."

"I'm Z. And I'm going into law enforcement, so I thought it might be useful to know all I could about lies and lying liars."

"Hi, I'm Rory, and I'm a horrible liar. I want to get better."

She shrugged. It was an easy enough answer.

"I'm Ben and I actually have no interest in this class, I just randomly picked it," Peter said.

"Actually, I'm Peter and I'd like to get better at keeping my secret identity. Also, I'm a smartass, sorry."

"Hi, I'm D'anna. You have to think like a liar to catch one." D said.

"I'm Elizabeth and I've had to deal with liars in the past and I feel that knowing when someone is lying is always helpful, so I'd like to be able to spot it easier," said Elizabeth, shrugging slightly. "And improving my own skills at stretching the truth can't hurt either."
