Basketball Practice, Sunday Morning, Gym

Yes, more than two weeks passed between the game and the next practice session for the basketball team. No, Tyler doesn't want to explain why. He had ~~handwavily~~ sent out an email scheduling today's session and asking when people wanted to practice going forward; that should be enough.

He turned on a mix tape, mostly Rage Against the Machine and Linkin Park, loudly enough to make the floor around it shake from the bass, and started working on his free throws.

"It goes well," Peter replied. "I forgot to duck yesterday and got myself a souvenir." He touched the bruise forming on his cheekbone. "But I really can't complain."

"Ah, yes, the demon." John nods. "Dude, how many tentacles did that thing have? Eighteen thousand?"

"Too many to count," Peter said. "At least while otherwise occupied. They were bloody fast too." He made a face. "I am so very much not a fan of things attacking from underground."

"Your first battle," John says, smiling a little. "Now you've officially seen what this school can do. I'm sure it won't last."

Peter laughed. "Second here if we're counting the Jello dragons. And I can honestly say that thosee two are the strangest fights I've ever been in." He consided for a second. "Well, there were some dwarves who tried to use each other as projectile weapons once. That was pretty strange."

"Jello dragons, that right." John nods. "Wow, two battles in the span of just a few days and only a bruise to show for it? You must be talented with your sword."

"I'm pretty quick on my feet," Peter said with a shrug. "And I think the Jello dragons, at least, weren't too much of a threat unless one got stuck inside the Jello or some such."

"Ack." Frowning, John asks, "Did that happen to anyone? Imprisonment by jello? I think I took off before the monsters made an appearance."

"I didn't see it. Sounds a bit horrific though, doesn't it?" Peter grinned. "So if you're out of shape, that means the great Gold team duo will be slowed next game?"

"Not a chance," John grins. "And even if we are slowed, we'll just make three pointers the whole game."

"Which is all well and good until you can't defend against our shots," Peter replied. "Two-way game, you know."

"True," John concedes. "Guess we'll have to get out to an insurmountable lead and coast through the game."

"That strategy worked well enough last game, I suppose," Peter said with a grin. "We'll need to improve our shooting and make each one count."

"And just think, I missed like eighty percent of my shots last game," John says. "If I make those, we'll really have a big lead."

"Just think," Peter agreed. "Though you have to get to the basket to make a shot."

"I'll get to the basket," John says. "Because I am just that good. Okay, really I'm not but I have to get to it once to at least get Aeryn to cheer for me."

"Like she wouldn't cheer for you anyway," Peter said with a grin.

"No, she'd laugh," he says but ends up laughing too.
