Nature & Nature Magic (Thursday Afternoon, 06/29/2006)

Today's class was meeting in the Preserve, which had been in a reminder e-mail Jenny had ~~*handwavily*~~ sent out.

A number of small tents are set up, and in front of them are are bundles of sage and some handouts.

"As far as I know, we don't have a sauna, so you get tents instead. Please don't light any fires inside the tent, but if you want to set up a campfire outside your tent, feel free. Check out your handouts on totem animals, and let's see if you can meditate and find yours. Or maybe you'll get another vision. Who knows? You can either go it alone or meditate with someone else."

"It was in one of the readings," Willow said, pointing. Then, because she'd just moved her arm a lot, added, "Ow."

"Oooh," Xander nods, flipping through pages 'til he gets to the one with the dolphin totem on it. "You okay?" he asks, concerned.

"I'll be fine," she said, starting to wave it off and then going for a nod. "Arms are sore thanks to Peter."

"'Thanks to Peter'?" Xander repeats, with a "bzuh?" expression.

"Uh-uh," Willow nodded. "He gave me a real workout yesterday."

"Oh really, now?"

"I enjoyed it but it was a lot harder than I expected," Willow told him.

Xander resists the urge to snicker. "Are you sure this is the sort of thing you ought to be discussing in public?"

"Oh," Willow said, quieting. She looked around, worried, then leaned in to whisper. "You think he could get in trouble? He was just trying to show me some moves so I'd know what I was doing."

"Well as long as he wasn't showing you his, ah, moves- where other people could see them? Like, say, in the forest? I think you're fine."

"Whew," Willow relaxed. "So near the gun range is fine?"

Xander thinks about this. It's not like *he* goes to the gun range, well, ever. So whatever people choose to get up to over there doesn't really bother him. "That's perfect," he tells Willow. "So, wanna get started on this meditating thing?"

"Yes, please," Willow said. "I've never done this with somebody else before. Do you think we're supposed to hold hands?"

"I'm not sure," Xander says. "If you think it'd help..." he holds out a hand.

Willow held out her hand, still feeling a bit sore in the arm but trying to hold steady. "Okay. Ready when you are."

Taking Willow's hand in his, Xander closes his eyes and tries to picture Briarwood's forest in his mind.

For her part, Willow thinks about the woods around Sunnydale. She imagines herself walking along a stream, feeling confident that she won't get lost because she can always follow the stream back.

Xander is walking along the familiar path to Rootcore, though he doesn't remember it being alongside a stream before. How odd.

There's a bit of movement, and Willow spots something in the distance. It's a deer. Willow and the animal stare at each other for a moment, and Willow wonders why a shiver of fear goes through her.

Xander just watches quietly as Willow catches sight of the deer, not wanting to scare it off or anything, and wonders when he'll see his own spirit animal.

Willow feels both drawn to the deer and like she should run away from it. Torn, she stays where she is and looks unhappy.

"You okay?" Xander asks, for the second time that day.

Willow blinks in surprise. "Xander! Um. I don't know?"

The deer bolts when Willow's not looking at it.

[ooc: will be leaving for class soon, if I vanish I'll be back in a few hours]

"Should we keep going?" he asks quietly.

[ooc: s'all good, i have work in a bit anyway, so ditto :)]

Willow shivers and wraps her arms - which don't feel sore here - around herself. "If you want. Guess I found mine."
