Journalism Class - Friday September 16

Professor Jerusalem is properly dressed today, but instead of being behind his desk, is slouched in one of the over-stuffed chairs, prodding at his laptop. On the table before him is a large box with several holes punched in the lid. His cat is sitting atop the box, looking smug with both faces.

Spider is working on attendance records, homework assignments and class participation and is mumbling under his breath. There is another large, steaming mug of coffee beside him and what looks to be a cappuchino machine against one wall. The sign hung above it states, 'Drink at own risk'.

"Whoa, whoa. Hold on there, kid." Spider bent down to examine the gun, eyes narrowed. "Who the hell are you, where did you get the gun and what's it doing on campus?"

"In the... study hall?" Spider glanced at rover. "You take the gun and go have a look at the monitors. I suspect this kid is pretty much blameless of anything more than basic cluelessness and, if he is guilty, we can always punish him later. You," looking at Bagoas critically, "come with me."

Up to the second floor and along the corridor, a female voice suddenly stated, "Spider Jerusalem, you have a companion. Identify, please?"

"This is... I forget his name. Don't worry about it. One-time pass, give him clearance, please."

There was a brief hum and Spider paused to unlock the door to his quarters. "Space Pirates, hmmm? One of whatsisname's assignments. Crazed fellow with the two heads?"

"Yeah, that's the one." Spider opened the door and gestured him inside. "A gun, huh? What else did you need for your Space Pirate idea?"

Frank say space pirate need tight pants. I go to spaceship by junkyard to find that. He already give me cuffs, chains, and clamps for bondage part.

Spider paused and gave him an odd look. "How old are you?"

*a bit shifty-eyed* Nineteen.

"Mm hmm." Spider looked mildly skeptical, but didn't press the issue. He closed the door and gestured toward his tiny kitchen. "All right. Let me check to see if the maker's on drugs, and we'll get you set-up. And do me a favor, kid... don't pick up any more guns."

"Right. C'mere." Spider gestured for Bagoas to stand in front of a black box. "Maker, we're gonna need clothing and accessories for," he looked at Bagoas again and shook his head, "a space pirate, apparently. Use your imagination... and nothing lethal!"

Red light sprang from the box and proceeded to map Bagoas' entire body. After a moment, it winked out and there was a faint noise from an opening in the front. Spider reached around him to pull out a pair of what looked to be tight leather pants, high, swashbuckling boots, a poet's shirt - which he eyed with some suspicion, and a heavy leather belt and a ray gun.

Spider examined the gun for a long moment before declaring, "Water pistol." He gathered the entire lot and handed it to Bagoas. "Here you go, kid."

Spider eyed him warily, raising his hands and taking a step back. "Look, kid. We all learned a valuable lesson today about gun safety, I'm sure. Consider this your lollipop after a shot at the doctor's office, all right? It's my way of making sure you don't get into any more trouble, which is, as you may have noticed, my job. Take a couple of deep breaths, stay away from the psychopaths in the study hall if at all possible, and all will be well. Honest."

"Good idea." Spider waved toward the door. "If you run into any more... difficulties, come see me."

Spider watched him go, shaking his head. "I swear to god, I should have just shot myself before agreeing to teach here." He wandered over to the window and stared out at a view of the City. "... what the fuck was I thinking?"
