fandomhigh | Applied Dadaism: fun and games (Friday morning, main campfire)

The main campfire area had been set up with picnic tables arranged in rows. Each picnic table had a pile of brochures, a pile of siding samples, and a tool box (filled with actual tools).

In front of the picnic tables stood a large easel with the words "Krebman dual-coated Aluminum Siding and YOU" on it in bright, friendly letters. Artie waited casually, not in the least bit posed, next to this. He was wearing his grey suit and turtleneck, and holding his briefcase. As the students gathered, he gestured for them to have a seat at one of the tables.

"Good morning, campers. TGIF, eh? Thank God it's Friday. Today I have a very special workshop for your delight, entertainment, and enlightenment. Now, who here knows what aluminum siding is?" Artie barreled on without giving the campers a chance to respond. "That's right, it's only the best siding known to mankind. It became widely popular just after World War II, when the surplus aluminum production was put to excellent and attractive use for modern housing. . . ."

He continued to lecture the group for most of the class on the wonderous nature of siding, how it was far superior to wood, and could not be matched by the so called "vinyl" siding of today. He harped especially on its dent-and-dirt resistant nature, and the lack of any need to paint it.

"But don't take my word for it, campers. In front of each of you is a piece of this amazing siding, as well as some common household tools. Go ahead, try it out. See if you can damage it. I warn you, it won't be easy. You also each have a copy of my card and the brochure. This week, I'd like you all to be my helpers. Fandom has a distinct lack of quality siding, something which we will endeavor to correct. Go forth this week, campers, and sell! (I will, of course, be collecting any money made off of sales as they will be made under my name.)"

[ooc: OCD is ~~a'comin~~ up. Feel free to ask Artie questions or act in a Dadaish nature, though that may possibly earn you detention, this week. I'm posting this Thursday night as I'll be AFK for most of Friday morning with an interview. SP is welcome.]

Somehow, being told to destroy something for a class took the fun out of it.

Tyler half-heartedly stomped on the piece of siding. Then he sat down on it and watched has classmates go to work.

Jamie? Still asleep from Artie's lecture.

Also still talking in his sleep.

"No more dents."

Tyler took the end of his piece of siding and prodded Jamie on the shoulder.

"Cut it out Guido, it's Saturday. It's your turn to walk Rahne," Jamie mumbled as he swatted at the siding.

"Who's Rahne?" Tyler asked. He wanted to see if Jamie could answer while he was still asleep, and he kept prodding.

"The Scottish Presbyterian werewolf with a shedding problem," Jamie muttered rolling over. "If she makes a mess on the floor I'm not cleaning it up."

"But, Jamie, it's your turn."

Artie was suddenly pointing at Jamie. "Is that boy asleep?"

"Mudflaps," Jamie mumbled totally asleep.

"Detention!" cried Artie.

Jamie lurches up for a moment and looks at Artie in amazement.

He then shrugs and wonders why there's ridges on his face.

Tyler nodded to Jamie.

"I've never seen anybody else get in trouble while they were asleep before," he said. "Bravo."

Jamie blinks for a moment. "Did I do anything bad when I was asleep? Or did I just get attention for being asleep?"

"I think it was the drool," Tyler said seriously. "Plus you were talking. It's totally your turn to clean up after Rahne."

He lowered his voice and spoke cynically. "I think Artie's trying to be extra-Dada by faking being normal. Just proves his whole thing is an act."

Jamie groaned. "Rahne can really clean up after herself. And yeah I think Artie is taking his Dada approach to the extreme."

"He's gone through Dada and back to the other side," Tyler agreed.

And smiled. "Have to give him credit for not totally boring me."

"You find the topic of aluminum siding exciting?" Jamie said giving Tyler a look like he's crazy.

"Yes. I subscribe to Aluminum Siding Fetishists Monthly," Tyler deadpanned. "Didn't you see it when we were in the cabin?"

"Most guys just go for porn," Jamie replied. "Though I should have known there was something different about you."

"You there, boy!" cried Artie when he saw Tyler sitting. "Have you damaged your siding? Or have you given up?"

"I am a conscientous objector, sir," Tyler said. "I believe destructiuon is wrong. Especially when sanctioned for a class."

"How very subversive of you." Artie narrowed his eyes at Tyler.

[ooc: Seriously, is it okay if he gets detention?]

"Subversion is a hobby of mine," Tyler agreed.

[OOC: Sure, he's kind of trying to drive Artie crazy.]

"Let's see how well you practice that hobby . . . in detention tomorrow."

[ooc: thanks. Artie's on kind of a detention rampage, today.]

Tyler grimaced. "I'll do my very best."
