Summer time in the Library

Kurt wandered into the library, enjoying the solace and silence of the school. He switched on the radio, playing classical music quietly as he sat down at his desk to go through paperwork, plan out the coming school year, order new books, and wait for any wandering students, teachers or others who needed a place to come and visit him.

Pippi flounces into the library.

"Hi!" she chimes... quietly.

Kurt looked up from his paperwork, a broad grin on his face. "Pippi! How are you lieblen? Have you been well?"

Pippi grinned back at him.

"I've been well, thank you Mr. Wagner, and better now that I see you're back from where-ever you were! And yourself?"

Kurt stretched his arms over his head and started to rise up. "Why thank you for noticing Pippi. Most of zhe time I've been here I felt invisible, so it's good to be noticed." He smiled as he walked to the teapot that was steaming on the hotplate.

"Cup of tea?" He asked as he poured himself a mug.

"That would be lovely, thank you." she said. "I was looking for books on squirrels."

"On squirrels," Kurt mused as he poured her a cup and handed it back to her. "Anyzhing in particular about them? Fictional stories with squirrels? Animal encyclopedia stuff?"

"Hmmm.. More like..." she mused, taking the cup from him with a nod. ".. behavior and language."

"Hmm," Kurt closed his eyes as he thought for a moment. "Ah! I zhink I know just what you are looking for. Let me check."

Kurt reappeared in a cloud of smoke, with a small pile of books of various sizes in his hands.

"I hope zhese help, lieblen," He almost sounded apologetic.

Pippi took the books and started to look them through.

"Oh! These look good!" she said, "I'm trying to figure out their language... I thought it might be like speaking Rat, but it's actually very different."

Kurt tilted his head slightly. "Und why do you want to learn how to speak squirrel?"

"I'm making a documentary about the wildlife of the island." she said, "And we have a lot of squirrels around."

"Ah! Now that is an interesting zhing," Kurt smiled. "School project, or is this for your own fun?"

"Both!" she said. "We're presenting on the 11th. If you'd like to see the final product. Would you like to do an interview for it?"

"Umm," Kurt hesitated for a moment. "I think I'm a bit too blue for film?" He grinned.

"I dunno, I think it's a very nice shade of blue, but I can use the audio over other footage if you'd rather."

Kurt sipped his tea cup and realized that maybe this is exactly what Elle was always telling him.

"Ja, I'll do it lieblen," He smiled.

"Yay!" Pippi bounced. She took her video camera out of her backpack which she had with her the whole time omg and started to set up.

"Do you have any stories involving animals on the island Mr. Wagner? Or would you like to be scholarly and give some information about Sharks, Squirrels, Lemurs, Bunnies, or Teal Dear?"

Kurt blinked. He hadn't even suspected that she was carrying her camera although what a funny plot device.

He grinned. "Well, my only stories of zhe island mainly involve teleporting around it, and I could speak volumes about vas animals do in zhat situation." He hopped up on the counter edge and positioned himself with his toes dangling over it. "But zhat is not going to do much for your documentary, eh? So, vas animal do you want I should speak of?"

Pippi found herself wishing she had another camera to get both a close up and a long shot of Kurt in the library. She played a bit with the camera so she could zoom in and out. She could fix it in the editing later to replace the actual zooming in and out with footage of animals doing what they do.

"Actually, I would rather like a bit about that." she said. "Do you find that animals on the island react differently to surprises then elsewhere?"

Kurt pondered that. "If anything, I would say they seem to not surprise or startle quite as easily. It's like they just zhink, oh well.." He shrugged. "But based on some of vas I have heard about this place? I don't blame them, ja."

"You certainly have a point there. Could you give us a little general information about squirrels Mr. Wagner?"

Tim came in with a small stack of books about the Fae that he'd checked out a week or so ago.
