Photography Workshop [6/21]

There was a nice spread of pastries and coffee, tea & hot chocolate from J,GOB waiting for the students when they arrived.

After everyone was there, Veronica smiled. "I hope all of you had a nice time on the field trip Sunday. I'm very pleased with how well everything went."

She passed out a handout. "Today we're going to talk about Fine Art photography. This is a nice follow up to the Documentary photography we discussed last week." She proceeded to give a brief lecture on the subject, citing examples.

"Let's hit the darkroom, I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures for last week's prompts as well as the photos you took on the DC trip."

Once they were done in the darkroom, Veronica grabbed another cup of coffee before starting the brainstorming section of the workshop. "This week, you're going to work with black and white film, so keep that in mind as you take your photographs. And your prompts are slightly more obscure, because I really want to encourage you to be creative with these. Metal, Fear, and Technology."

"Nice self portrait," Veronica said. "But I really like your sparkly picture."

"Yeah, I really liked how the sunlight was sparkling on the water," Bel said. "Good thing I had my camera with me when I was passing by."

Veronica raised an eyebrow at Zack's sparkly picture and wondered if Cordy was the girl he'd been asking her about the previous week. "Your fire picture is very nice," she said. "You could do a whole series of lab based pictures, using the ones you displayed last week in the art fair."

Buffy worked on developing her photos, which she'd spent yesterday taking. She had fire (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/000asx76), red (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/000at41g) and sparkly (http://pics.livejournal.com/1ordinarygirl/pic/000aw3g8). She hoped those were the right ones.

Jaye's got about a dozen pics from DC, all of the same thing. You totally know what it's of. She's spending more time on her photos for class, anyway, sparkly, fire, and red.

Veronica smirks at Jaye's DC pictures, but doesn't comment. "That's a pretty clever interpretation of fire," she says.

Despite going against the rules and combining all three prompts in one series (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhighdorms/656246.html?thread=40892790#t40892790) of pictures, Cameron's pretty proud of the result. There's also pictures (http://community.livejournal.com/fh_trips/10942.html?thread=1196734#t1196734) of the teacher of the workshop and a banana tree of course.

All Veronica can do when she sees Cameron's pictures is laugh.

A lot.

Like, gasping for air laughing. Tummy hurting laughing.

And she really, really thinks Cam deserves a medal or something.

Nadia didn't have links because her mun has to run to an interview in five minutes developed her pictures of red: a rose against the Vietnam memorial, sparkly: a particularly reflective sculpture from the sculpture garden, and fire: a group of slam poets performing on the mall.

She's got a lot of other pictures from DC as well.
