Basketball game, gym -- 1:30 FHT Saturday

The other equipment in the gym has been moved out of the way, and it's finally game day. There are t-shirts for the blue and gold gremlins on each bench and a heavy air of expectation in the air.

Mostly, expectation that something will go horribly wrong. But it's expectation anyhow.

[OOC: Cheer or watch the first half here and the second half here. Rules are still here. Game chat is fhballgame.]

Peter was still laughing at Cam's victory dance as he dribbled the ball out at half-court. He made a quick bounce pass to Tyler then ran darted across the court, hoping to set up a play. Tyler seemed to run into a bit of defence trouble and passed back to Anders on the fly.

Anders wasn't bothering to think about setting up plays, since in his head all of them took place on triangular courts anyway. He tried the catch-and-shoot again when the pass from Tyler came his way, but forgot to get any decent amount of spin on the ball.

It hit the bottom of the backboard and dropped straight down into Gold Gremlin hands.

"Well, frak."

Sawyer having caught the ball started off for the basket. He faked a pass to John, but ended up shooting the ball at Cameron.

Cameron caught it, feigned a move to the right to send the defense into the wrong direction and got a clear shot of the basket. It went in.

Cameron went to his knees and pulled his shirt over his head again because it was cool.

Anders was still shaking his head at Cam as he took the ball out and cleared it. Not that he'd ever have admitted it, but the goofy victory dance stuff was distracting him enough that he ran into traffic and had to pass out of another double-team.

"Peter! Dude! I think that one's yours!" he yelled, hoping like hell he'd actually passed in the right direction.

Well, Anders hadn't passed in the right direction (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/906387.html?thread=45510803#t45510803), and Conner was able to step in and snare the errant pass easily. Unfortunately his usual fakeout moves didn't work in this crazy upside-down sport (seriously, hands?) and he ended up having to pass out to Sawyer, who passed back.

It devolved into a surreal little game of hot-potato that luckily was over almost as quickly as it began. Apparently it had distracted the Blue team enough to get Cam another good, open look at the basket, so Conner lobbed the pass toward him.

Cameron caught the pass, moved forward and got blocked by Greg. There was a moment of dribbling back and forth which ended with Greg tripping and Cameron shooting off to the right and taking his shot.

The ball went in and Cameron did a handstand in celebration.

Shaking his head at the Gold team's quick rally, Peter bounced the ball at half-court a few times before moving inbounds.

He ran a quick give and go down the court with Tyler before running out of room and slinging the ball towards Anders who looked to be in good position for a shot.

Anders was, in fact, in pretty good position for a shot; he took two dribbles, pulled up, and let the ball fly. It looked like it was going to go in, but kicked back out over the rim.

Luckily Tyler was under the basket and tried to tip it back in, only to roll it over the basket and into the hands of the other team.

Cameron took the ball and dribbled off, running quickly into the defence and passed to John who was open.

John's trying to ignore that 'you ate too much' feeling in his stomach. He takes the pass from Cam, bobbles it slightly and takes an awkward shot that finally goes in the basket!

John almost does a cartwheel but refrains and instead jumps up and down.

Cheering, Cameron ran over to join John in the jumping up and down!

John jumps up and chest bumps with Cameron.

The clock was running down on the half, and the Gold team was falling sadly behind. Peter tried the alley-oop play that had been working so well for John and Cam.

"Tyler! It's yours!" he called as he slung the ball high in the air. Tyler leaped up to tip it in and sank the ball just as the ref blew his whistle for half-time.
