Basketball game, gym -- 1:30 FHT Saturday

The other equipment in the gym has been moved out of the way, and it's finally game day. There are t-shirts for the blue and gold gremlins on each bench and a heavy air of expectation in the air.

Mostly, expectation that something will go horribly wrong. But it's expectation anyhow.

[OOC: Cheer or watch the first half here and the second half here. Rules are still here. Game chat is fhballgame.]

John is not happy with his luck today. Nope, not at all.

So, he slings a pass towards Cam.

Cameron takes the ball and tries to head for the basket, but quickly gets cornered. He turns and passes back to John.

John, still sulking about being 0 for the world in the shooting, tries to cover Peter so Tyler can't see him.

Anders looked up at Peter's shout and ran in to grab the ball. He spotted an opening between a couple of the Gold players and cut through, looking for an open man.

Zack was there, so Anders snapped off an awkward one-handed pass and ran to find himself another open spot on the court just in time to get the ball passed back to him. His angle was lousy, though.

"Peter! Heads up!"

Peter caught the pass, dribbled up the court a bit, and passed back to Anders as he ran into defensive resistance.

John's beginning to hate this game with a passion. But, seeing Conner making a run towards the basket, John points up and lobs it high enough.

Now, he hopes that Conner can tip or even dunk it in.

Hands. Hands. Not feet.

It's probably a good thing that Conner is concentrating on that and not thinking too much about the mechanics of actually making the shot at this point.

Next thing he knows, he's hanging from the rim and the ball has actually gone through.

"Dude! Sweet!"

Okay, but now he has to get back down.

Peter watched the players set up around him for a few seconds before starting to dribble out onto the court. He dodged around a gold player, then push passed quickly to Zack who immediately tried to pass the ball onto Anders.

Anders got a hold of the pass somehow or other and dribbled in place a couple of times, looking around for a path to the basket.

When he saw one, he went for it -- tucking the ball under his arm and running, completely forgetting which sport he was playing.

"Dude, you're not playing pyramid," Cameron mumbled as the referee called the turnover.

Cameron passed the ball quickly to Sawyer who dribbled off to the basket, got cornered and made a bounce-pass to Conner.

After the pass from Sawyer, Conner (who was still snickering) dribbled the ball out near the top of the key and tried to take a shot.

Tried being the operative word. Followed by "failed," as well as "failed to get the rebound."

Anders grabbed the rebound, which he figured was appropriate payback for McKnight snickering at him, and cleared it out to the top of the key.

He tried to drive the baseline again, got trapped, and made a wild pass to Zack. Zack only took a couple of dribbles before getting double-teamed, and kicked the ball back out to Peter.

Since Peter's defenceman had gone to double-team Zack, Peter dribbled the ball up to shoot a lay-up. And surprisingly made it. He grinned as he retrieved the ball and passed it to a Gold player to take out.

Conner had the inbound, and spotted Cam open near the basket. The game hadn't been going their way so far, but that last alley-oop had been surprisingly successful, so why not?

He gestured up into the air like John had and lobbed the ball high in the air between Cam and the net. With any luck . . .

Cameron caught the ball and jumped up, catching the rim of the basket he dunked the ball right in. Score for the gold team and Cameron let go, landing down on his feet.

This time he went for a small victory dance under the ring.
