"Good morning," Jarod grinned, more focused than he'd been the week before. He was also wearing a swimsuit and his hair was damp. There was also a battery-operated CD player, currently playing The Beach Boys' greatest hits. "It's getting a bit warmer, so I thought we could try something a little different today. Today we'll be surfing. We have a collection of surfboards or bodyboards for you to choose from. Be careful with them, though, since they're on loan."

"Also," he said, gesturing towards a pile of equipment over on the sand, "we've got wetsuits available, if the water's too cold for you."

He grinned, possibly anticipating getting back out and doing some surfing for himself. "For those of you who don't want to surf, there's also some snorkeling equipment. All I ask is that you be careful, swim with a buddy, and snorkel in an area away from where people are surfing, so we don't have any accidents. Or there's always the get a tan and build sand castles option."

The CD player switched to Jan and Dean. "Go have fun!"

"Ooooh," says Jaye, automatically going to scratch Jack's head. "Do you think 'shirtlessness encouraged' would help or hurt?"

Jack whined happily. If it was possible for a fox to purr, he might have done that as well.

"I think we need to work the subtle angle. Set up a situation where they'd want to be shirtless," Isabel said with a sly grin. "Say perhaps in a volleyball game?"

"That would really work," Jaye says innocently. "It's the beach, and it's hot, and there's exercise. They're just going to get all sweaty, and who wants to mess up their clothes?"

It hasn't really occurred to her that she's having this conversation in front of fox Jack.

"Exactly," she agreed. "Want to be in charge of arranging a game?"

Jack just sat there and looked smug.

"I could maybe do that," she says slowly. "I mean, if it's for the pretty..."

"That's why I asked you Jaye," Isabel smiled. "I knew you'd be willing to make the sacrifice for the pretty. Good, that's one thing crossed of the list." She reached into her bag and pulled out a notepad and literally did cross something off a very long list. "Now it's just a matter of talking to people and getting some money. I'd like to see about a caterer for food and maybe some fireworks."

Jaye kind of stares at the notepad. "You have a... Catering?"

"If I can get a budget? Why not?" Isabel shrugged. "Nothing fancy of course, burgers, dogs, that kind of thing. But still, it's 4th of July. A barbaque is required. And I really don't want to be the one stuck working a grill."

"Could probably shang-hai one of the guys to do it," she suggests. "Just... not shirtless, because fire... Could get ugly."

"True. But think about it, time behind the grill means less time playing volleyball. Or swimming. Shirtless. And wet. I guess if we had to though, we could always ask one or two of them to do it," Isabel said with a sigh. "Manning the grill is a guy thing after all. For some reason charcoal seems to make them feel all manly."

"I'm okay with them feeling manly," Jaye says. "Didn't mean that as dirty as it sounded, I swear."

"Of course not," Isabel laughed. Then she checked her list again. "Do you think we can arrange some sort of sacrifice to the weather gods? Because I'd really hate to get all this arranged and then have it rain all day on the Fourth. And yes, I seriously have that question down on my list. It's Fandom. It's not that insane of a possibility."

"Human or animal sacrifice?" Jaye asks. It's for the pretty, after all.

"Personally I was hoping they'd follow the pirate's lead and be satisfied with a bottle or two of rum." Believe it or not, there are limits to what Isabel is willing to do to ensure a successful party.

"Hmm. We might be able to use that rum otherwise," she says. "But I'll take it."

"Don't worry, I'll be sure to keep a bottle aside just for you," Isabel assured her. "Just make sure to keep it away from me. Very bad things happen when I drink."

Fox Jack grinned and yipped. "Oh shut you."

Jaye nods. "Welcome to the club. We used to have membership cards, but it got too expensive."

"Can I be a member if it only happened once? Because I am never, ever, doing that again. I hugged people," she explained, eyes wide. "I hugged Parker and Aeryn and Bel. And told them how wonderful they are. I'm lucky they didn't kill me. Keep in mind, this happened after only a single sip of Jack's drink. Stupid metabolism. So seriously, I'm never drinking again."

Jaye smiles. "More for me."
